Can we all just appreciate how good Evan was in that final clip - got all three final kills and still congratulated his teammates - he’s an absolute beast and still humble (not saying reps and Hal didn’t do their bit) but for evans first major tournament on TSM it made a statement to how good he is as a player.

Biting into a gold coins or silver coins used to basically authenticate them as being real. If the metal bent, it wasn't it's real. And medals used to be real gold a century ago so just a symbolism thing

Biting gold medals is old habit. Before modern currency when people traded something with gold you bite into it. Since gold is bit soft it leaves teeth marks into it so that was way to check if the gold was real. Someway it got into sport events where people pose with gold medals in their mouth.

Close, but wrong. Firstly, it isn't habit, it's tradition. Many young athletes do it despite never having done it before, simply because it is the quintessential champion pose and photo journalists requests the traditional pose. Secondly, you're half right about the "bite test" to authenticate gold. No it isn't as simple as "good if it leaves tooth marks". There are other soft metals, such as lead. In the absence of standardization, you would have difficulty authenticating by weight. If you trade in a bunch of random sized and shaped gold nuggets, you could easily mix in gold plated lead nuggets and it would be hard to tell if the difference in weight came from a difference in composition or difference in size. Thus governments would introduce standardization in the form of COINAGE. Biting gold comes from GOLD COINS. When governments minted COINS, they would be minted to a specific size and weight, and they were rarely ever PURE GOLD. Gold is soft, heavy and valuable, inconvenient for use as currency in pure form. Most gold coins were thus, made of ALLOYS, a mixture of gold and other metals. Sometimes, when governments were struggling they would CHANGE THE GOLD CONTENT in their coins, meaning one gold coin may have more actual gold in it than another gold coin, though the face denomination was the same. This would result in a different hardness for example, between a 24k gold 1Money coin and a 22K gold 1Money coin. Biting wasn't about whether it left toothmarks, but about FEELING THE DIFFERENCE in hardness between two coins to assess the difference in gold content and thus value independent of denomination.
