Great work! What's astounding to me is that these guys wrote all this material in their teens and early twenties! When they broke up not one of them had turned thirty yet!

I don’t know if it’s all the Minor Chords in the bridge that go into a minor .. or the lyrics.. but it gives you this hope.. Bm to Am and then C Major.. that C Major lifts the song or the lyrics.. from pain and Don’t Bother me to realizing and hoping and knowing “She’ll ALWAYS be the only girl for me”❤what a magical song❤

Great song and an early indication of George's musical genius! Thanks for keeping their music alive and well Mike!

Mike, amazing stuff!! John’s guitar is so catchy in this one, and you capture it so well.

Absolutely. Watching Mike's vids has been a revelation in many ways, none more so than understanding just what a great guitarist John Lennon was. I never realised he did that great rolling lick on this one.

Nice job,Mike. John was a much better guitarist than some have given him credit for. It’s all coming out now thanks to you.

George is my favorite Beatle and this is my favorite Beatle Song❤ ever time I see anything on this song it reminds me of people saying it was his first attempt and the song was “a good attempt” 🤦🏻♂️ a “Good” attempt? Really? This song is a fucken masterpiece..❤

I think that’s what made this song and George’s songs so great and better in my opinion.. a lot of their songs, specially at that time, the songs were about being in love and being romantic.. but then George makes a song about pain and heartbreak.. I think that Darkness and contrast made it stand out .. that’s what I love about George.. he used his lyrics to say something significant.. Taxman, While my Guitar Gently Weeps, Within You Without You, I Me Mine.. ❤

Another fun one. Thanks! Might I request Old Brown Shoe (including the bass)? I just figured out the solo, which is really fun to play, and I'd like to compare notes. 😊

I always thought the instrumentals on many early Beatles songs make them sound like a surf guitar band. This is especially true on this one with the chord and tremolo choices. Adding in the vocals make these same songs a snapshot of the Merseyside sound of that time

One of the biggest mistakes in Rock History was John, Paul and George Martin not being more optimistic about George and his song writing.. just imagine (pun intended 😂) if they all gave more support to George 🤯 there would’ve been waaaaayy more incredible and beautiful songs from the Beatles.. imagine a ton of Harrison/McCartney and Harrison/Lennon songs 😢 would’ve been crazy🙌🏻

Your content is insane! Thank you so much! Been using your videos as references for my graduation paper. It's been helping me to understand the harmony and the chords of these songs wich we all think are super simple, but actually aren't. I'll quote you on my work and send you the results. The paper will be in portuguese, since I'm brazilian, but I think I'll produce a version in english. It'll be about the harmonies of Beatles songs, especially the modal ones. Thank you and keep up the great work. P.S.: I'd love to know your process in figuring out all of the guitar parts.

Did he turn the tremolo on and off in the middle of recording? Or was it overdubbed?
@ww3lstepАй бұрын
There was a still shot (at least in the first video upload) of Lennon with a pedal for the tremolo.
@MPfranceАй бұрын
@Jpw - The rhythm track was recorded live to a 2-track tape machine so yes - John manipulated his amp settings whilst recording.

George's interesting chord progressions give a hint of things to come in his songwriting. I also love John's G G7 Em quickie progression.
@matcoffidis1135Ай бұрын
I think that maybe cause George didn't have any songs under his belt is the reason it sounds the way it does. It's really trippy and I dig it. Definitely not his best effort, but its pretty interesting none the less.
@2011littlejohn1Ай бұрын
Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember what was happening at the time and to me this, although it's George's first solo effort, does sound like a typical Beatle song of the time period.
