I am in Liverpool England. Practically walking distance from Hambleton Hall in Page Moss. The Beatles played it regularly in early 1960 Now sadly demolished. It became a probation and a DHSS bulding. Always walk past where it stood and I say to myself. The greatest rock stars in history played in that spot. My girlfriend just thinks I am mad, Been in awe of the Beatles all my life but could never play or sing Beatles songs like you can. Fantastic Lessons and Thanks. Tony from the pool.

Nice comment but I grew up in Liverpool Sydney, a working clas suburb at least when I lived there, but I noticed you say "the pool" when we called it "Livo". All the best.

You are hands down the best Beatles song teacher in my opinion. I struggle with covers and you have a way that just works for me. Words can't describe my gratitude. I found you through your Don't let me down tutorial, which is amazing. Currently I'm working a seven day week and struggle to play any guitar but soon I'll have time and intend to put these tutorials to practice. Until then I'll just enjoy them anyway. Really good work 👍

Twist and Shout opens the Beatles live at Hollywood Bowl album. The Rave up vocals are to me one of the great moments in 1960's music which is saying a lot. I always crank it and get chills. They hit every note and make every pitch jump seem easy. Then they cap it with ascending "shouts." I've played it for younger people and ask "who on Earth do you think can do that?" Only the Fab Four could pull that off live. And then the guitar double stops are typical Beatles perfection. Great job Mike. Really enjoy your recent vids-- tres cool

John's singing in that song will always be the most iconic rock n roll screaming/singing ever in history as far as I am concerned. Your vocals captured the fun, youthful 23 year old Beatles standing on stage with 50,000 screaming girls, and 10,000 laughing men (because the girls were screaming so loud) in the audience. Sometimes lots lots more.

You are very kind but I am not a fan of my voice. Truth be told, I never like anybody’s voice singing the Beatles. John and Paul had such charming voices. Their personal charm came through even when they were screaming. Nobody has ever gotten close to that in my humble opinion.
@guillervz
@guillervz 3 жыл бұрын
@@MPfrance I agree with you, nobody can reproduce the original charm of their voices, they are amazing singers and they can sing in a way that makes their compositions shine even more. But your voice does justice to a good interpretation of Twist and Shout, which is not an easy song! Also, I honestly believe you are a very good educator and I respect that very much. So, cheers to you and cheers to John and Paul!

I have been following your videos since early on, Mike. Your clarity, correctness, and enthusiasm are outstanding teaching virtues. Thanks. In the 1980, 3 other guitar-playing friends decided to form a serious Beatles cover band. We did mostly pre-moustache Beatles, and a lot much of the first 3 albums. I was the only guitarist in the band with any experience playing drums (long ago, my brother the drummer's kit), so I volunteered to play Ringo's drum parts. I learned fast and got as deeply into Ringo's playing as a right-hander could go. The band played local gigs on the SF peninsula for 8 years. In all that time, I never learned a single song on guitar. So I went back to playing guitar and writing songs with friends. Ten years later I got invited to join some hot players who were playing a lot of Beatles songs and other covers from the 60s, recording and gigging locally. Not only did they want me to play drums, but the fantastic guitarist who lead the band always played a standard guitar upside down, Hendrix-style. I sat across from in rehearsals watched him for years but never learned a thing! It was all upside down. That band broke up after many years and I returned to playing guitar and writing songs with other friends. As I had been doing since the mid-60s when I first heard the Beatles and picked up a guitar for the first time, I continued as a guitarist. Now I have my own band, mostly playing my originals at local venues, but we have started to mix in some Beatles songs. (These are especially for the audience members who don't listen to the music, but only hear it.) I mentioned your lessons to the lead guitarist in my band. Now he wants to replace my songs with Beatles songs! I blame you. But now I can learn the John Lennon parts with the same seriousness I brought to learning to play like Ringo in the that first Beatles band 40 years ago. So, thanks!
