Crosby to Toronto does make the most sense. Crosby isn't chasing any individual records like Ovechkin, sure playing with MacKinnon winning a another cup in Colorado is nice but there's not as much meaning as it would be winning one in Toronto. There's just a bigger legacy opportunity in Toronto for Crosby. Granted Crosby's legacy is second to one, but winning a cup on Toronto is really the only thing that adds to it in my opinion

I forgot to answer the question "Why would Crosby come to Toronto"? Statements are released that he wants another Cup. He is frustrated in Pittsburgh right now because of the lack of competitiveness. With the Leafs current success especially without Matthews, it can be bate to encourage Crosby that adding him to Toronto could mean a serious contending charge for the Cup here in Toronto. If anyone feels that Toronto has no chance even with Crosby vs the likes of Florida, all I can ask, do they say Pittsburgh has a chance vs Florida even with Crosby? 🤷‍♂️

1. I don't believe Sid will ever be traded. He signed for 3 years over the summer. If he was worried about the Pens rebuilding, he'd just sign 1 year at a time. Just my opinion. 2. If he does get traded, it likely won't be the Leafs. The fact that Dubas is the Pens GM complicates things. 3. Sids AAV is 8.7 mill. That would be difficult for the Leafs to shoehorn that cap hit. And if you're expecting the Pens to retain, then you're gonna pay thru the nose. Minten was drafted by Dubas. He'd also want Cowan. Niemela. Lots of picks too. Not gonna happen

How can the Leafs afford Sidney Crosby? One way. Ask Matthews to take his time to recover. LTIR until the salary cap is lifted (playoffs). If ghe Leafs can do that (11 or 13 million to Crosby's 9 million). No need for Pittsburgh to eat any money. That gives the Leafs still extra for another player. If I were Treliving, I would even offer Robertson and maybe some other bottom 6 players who we are not absolutely in need of. As for sending a goalie? Woll? I would not be in favor of. However if that's all it takes, I would consider it because we still have Stolarz, Hildeby, Murray and a new up and coming Marley goalie Artur.
