4:53 Is like heaven opening up and God smiling down on us! The control and quality of sound is astounding!

A very effective and moving arrangement for brass ensemble! I sing in a chamber choir AND play (BBb tuba / bass) in a brass band. I think it’s commendable that this arrangement hasn’t merely distributed the vocal parts among the brass players, but has skilfully ARRANGED the music so that the total effect resembles the original. Well done - arranger and TSO!

I had the privilege to perform this myself. This is one of those pieces that almost makes you cry while playing! Great job guys!

The layers of sound, the beauty of the perfectly performed notes, I was weepy by the time the piece was done. Exceptional.

This was an amazing arrangement and performance. The control and restraint of the performers was so excellent. Measures 44 through 54... many choirs do not perform that section as well. Truly amazing.

Hauntingly beautiful. I believe the composer is danish isn't he ? - Befitting piece to discover here a few days after you had a local citizen crowned Queen of that very country.

Loving that ritardando (rallentando?) starting around 5:10. Amazing coming after the entrance of the deep bass around 4:50. Fantastic performance!

Brass section from Penrith Symphony Orchestra played this live Feb 2021 and introduced me to this amazing piece, and now to the #TSODailyDose. What a find. I've listened to the original choral work and prefer the brass arrangement. Love watching it being played too.

Absolute shivers up my spine listening to this!! I've listened to the Dale Warland Singers choral version of this many many times; but even though this brass version is done with slight tempo variations, etc. (suitable to a brass ensemble), nonetheless, is is just an incredible rendering!! Wow! All brass pieces are difficult to do well. This goes WAY beyond done well!

I’d listen to this a thousand times if it didn’t have the spoken introduction… hard to listen to it on repeat with the one minute speaking every time… other than that it’s perfect.

marvellous !!! Im an aspiring trombonist thinking about moving to bass. Can you comment on the equipment you are playing and is that a Rath hand brace?
@mitchellnissen64662 жыл бұрын
Hey Jim! I never saw this message until now. I’m playing on a modified vintage Bach 50 from about 1980. Shires axial flow valves and yep that’s a rate hand brace. You’ve probably got your move to bass sorted by now, I hope it’s going well! Keep your tone golden!
