TSR Railway Roundup - New Locomotives, Class 03 & 09, Fireless Loco

Welcome to episode 2 of Telford Steam Railway Roundup where we show you all of the exciting projects happening across all our departments.
On this episode we have many new rolling stock items arrive at the railway, a look at the progress on the track relay and an update on the steam tram overhaul.

We currently have an appeal to buy a new boiler for our narrow gauge steam tram.
A complete new built vertical boiler is available to buy for £8500. We need your donations now to enable the railway to secure it for our steam tram before it is too late.

We’re a Heritage Railway based at Horsehay in Telford, Shropshire (TF4 2NF). We are open Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays so come on down and have a ride.
Tickets - £8 Adult, £5 Children/Seniors and £25 Family (two adults and upto three Children). Great value season tickets (which pay for themselves after only 4 visits to the railway (not including special events)) are also available. Tickets allow unlimited travel on all our standard gauge trains, entry onto our model railway exhibition and (if open) museum.

We have a new delivery of Middleton Press railway books, featuring the following titles - Craven Arms to Wellington, Stafford to Wellington, Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury, Kidderminster to Shrewsbury, Branch Lines around Market Drayton, Branch Lines around Cleobury Mortimer, and Branch Line to Shrewsbury.
Second Hand Bookstall - selling railway, transport and gardening books, come and grab yourself a bargain!
Picnic area - enjoy our peaceful space close to Horsehay Pool. See if you can find all the wooden animals in the trees!
The Furnaces Tearoom will be offering hot and cold drinks, ice creams, cakes, snacks and light meals to eat in or take away. Breakfast is now being served until 12pm (Please note that the tearoom will not be open to the public until 11am on Sunday 3 September due to a private booking).
The Pheonix Miniature Railway will be open and giving rides (additional charges apply).

Your heritage railway isn't one I've come across before. You're doing excellent work in preserving our railway heritage. I do like the look of 5619, it's vaguely reminiscent of one of Britain's colonial engines, complete as it is with headlamp & cowcatcher. I wish you a successful 2024. ❤

Great to see the loco has a new home and a caring owner. In early 2020 a start of a cosmetic restoration was done on the 03 being simply wire brushing section of loco and painting into red oxide undercoat as an attempt to prevent it getting worse and starting its restoration process by the NNR junior club. Unfortunately was covid came about this project was sidelined but great to see it have another new lease of life
