Thank you for breaking it down so well. As a musician I have always appreciated the talent and have been trying to learn more about it. As a white guy who grew up surrounded by corn I haven't had the experiences to know where he was coming from. But when you broke it down it really helped me understand the picture he was painting with his words. He was able to take me into the story he was relating and the artistry of his words is fantastic! I was so happy to see you guys react to Sturgill Simpson, but I am so bummed that people led you astray as to what songs you should listen to! I consider myself to be an armchair expert on his music and I am telling you that you guys HAVE to check out "Keep It Between the Lines" or "All Around You" - both are off his album A Sailor's Guide to Earth. These songs have a sound like you probably have never heard before. Think Jazz meets Funk meets Rock meets Country meets Blues. Any of the songs off that album are just unreal, but I promise you will not regret either of those two. He wrote the album after his son was born and these songs are a guide for him to avoid making some of the very heavy mistakes he faced (and wrote about in those much heavier songs you guys already covered) but they are a lighter, but super high energy vibe to them. (also, Sturgill plays guitar on all of his songs and he can shred). Keep it up, you have a new lifelong fan!
