The whole video I saw a portabella mushroom ,the underside. The gills are the scribe marks. I love the tsuba!

3:45 It's technically not emery paper either, then. Emery is mostly aluminum oxide. Love the video and series. It's convinced me to subscribe.

Can be.. usually shibuichii which is copper alloy

Ford does the repeated heating/cooling also help to work harden the copper?

No. It anneals it.. heat cannot work harden copper
