The Tsuga Eldorado is the best hip pack on the market hands down. Nothing else is close to as comfortable and water bottle retrieval and returning is so easy. I would not even waste my money on something else. The Pivot Pro is great as well but the Eldorado fits my backcountry riding better.

For the bottle that goes in the bag maybe use a soft flask like the ones trail runners use. Just pick one that can close its valve like the ones from camelback, to prevent leakage. They are lighter and compress when empty so no wasted space. I use the Ergon BA hip pack and it has no additional water bottle holders, which is usually fine since I have a bottle in my frame and I usually ride in places where I can refill with fresh water, but bought the camelback flask just in case I go on a ride where I need more water but still dont need a backpack. Regarding the 1L tool bag, have you considered moving some of those items into a frame bag/strap? It seems that your bag is fairly heavy and it would make sense strapping some those things to the frame to have less weight on the back. I got a dakine gripper bag and was able to stuff so much of my gear into it that I can take 1L hip pack for short rides and still have all the necessary gear to be self sufficient. While having just one bag for all is extremely convenient, having two bags isnt all that inconvenient.

Good point. Tsuga actually makes a really good tube wrap that I’m going to show. But the reason I don’t do that is because I’m switching mountain bikes a bit more frequently than the average person does.

I need to give a hip pack another go. Got a evoc one and don’t think I spent enough time riding with one.

Love the idea of all the tools in a granite bag. But what size do you use?

I'll use a hose with a reservoir hip pack all day. I'm not carrying water bottles on my hip.

I guess it’s a matter of preference. I’ve used the hose kind (I have a really nice one in my closet) but preferred carrying the bottles on the hip. Also a lot easier to clean the bottles than the reservoir.

so really it's all in the hips?!

😂 100%. Just have to tap it in and I find my way to my home every time. My Tsuga Eldorado 4L has everything in it just in case I miss judge the hole.

This video doesn’t really tell me why it’s so good other than durability and a good bottle holder. I have the bontrager rapid, evoc with bladder, lab austere, etc. they are all good. A comparison of features, position on hips, stability on chunk and jumps would help.

The width and contour of belt really bear hug your hips for exceptional comfort that surpasses the evoc pro by lite years. The singe design allows for a tight fit with out pinch points.

@@MTBWNC thanks. That’s saying a lot if its more comfortable than the evoc pro. I need to look into this
