Manzai is a traditional style of comedy in Japanese culture comparable to double act comedy or stand-up comedy.
Manzai usually involves two performers (manzaishi) a straight man (tsukkomi) and a funny man (boke), trading jokes at great speed. Most of the jokes revolve around mutual misunderstandings, double-talk, puns and other verbal gags.
In recent times, manzai has often been associated with the Osaka region, and manzai comedians often speak in the Kansai dialect during their acts.
Similar in execution to the concepts of "funny man" and "straight man" in double act comedy, these roles are a very important characteristic of manzai. Boke comes from the verb bokeru which carries the meaning of "senility" or "air headed-ness" and is reflected in the boke's tendency for misinterpretation and forgetfulness.
The word tsukkomi refers to the role the second comedian plays in "butting in" and correcting the boke's errors. In performances it is common for the tsukkomi to berate the boke and hit them on the head with a swift smack; one traditional manzai prop often used for this purpose is a pleated paper fan called a harisen.
Another traditional manzai prop is a small drum, usually carried (and used) by the boke. A Japanese bamboo and paper umbrella is another common prop. These props are usually used only during non-serious manzai routines as traditional manzai requires there to be no props in terms of routine and in competitions. The use of props would put the comedy act closer to a conte rather than manzai.
The tradition of tsukkomi and boke is often used in other Japanese comedy, although it may not be as obviously portrayed as it usually is in manzai.
The game is controlled with a pedal and a life-sized doll that you have to slap at the appropriate times in order to get the desired audience reaction.
Player has a point goal to achieve in the top right part of the screen, every action makes points the better his your timing the more point you make, beware that you can also fail the timing and lose points or making none.
If you manage to make everything right you play three rounds, succeeding the task. Failing one session by not reaching the goal points will result in a instatenius game over, with the real life comedians telling you to get the timing right next time you play.
When you see a green text on the screen you press push the pedal, to continue exchanging jokes with the boke, when you see a red text, it is time to take action and hit the doll. You can hit it in three parts of the body, forehead, chest or back of the head (i did only this come convenience and tbh was more funny).
Do in it at the perfect time will show a funny artwork, doing too early or too late and the in-game boke will hit you, losing a mass amount of points.
You can also see in the top left screen a flow chart with some icons going down, these are goals achieved by your success and for doing things right and the items you can use in the next sessions, the more jokes are properly timed more the icons will go down reaching the goal.
That's it, the game is all about hitting things at proper time, the jokes are impossible to understand for western folks, at the same but the game can be surprising enjoyable.

Tsukkomi Yousei Gips Nice Tsukkomi is an arcade game developed by Metro and published by Namco for Namco System 10 only in Japan in 2002. The game based on a style of standup comedy Owari specifically, Manzai, popular in Osaka known as a "Boke and Tsukkomi routine".

I think imho (in my humble opinion), this game would have been better if they add "DOWN-TOWN (ダウンタウン)" (they are: Hitoshi Matsumoto [松本人志] & Masatoshi Hamada [浜田雅功])" owarai duo - since they're similarly depicted in the game as (somewhat) nearly "accurate" due to their 3D models, but it seems that never actually happened in the first place because, we'll never know for sure. For those who are asking "How do I play this game?", here are the controls (plus the corresponding colors): GREEN (texts) - Use pedal RED - Slap/hit the "linked doll guy" anywhere, on 3 parts: a. Back of the head (やかましいわ！ / "No way! / Impossible! / You're loud bruh!") b. Face (わけわからんわ！/ "I don't understand!") c. Chest (なんでやねん！/ "What are you talking about? / What the heck?!") Proper timing is crucially important, so not to get audience decrease during the long run. When you hit the right timings, the audience numbers will increase a few or even more, depending on the situation. PROTIP: Make your own "input mappings" (this game) before you start, aside from the obvious START button, coin buttons and the Test/Service buttons, at your own discretion. Remember, practice makes "perfect" and have fun / please enjoy the game!
