This lure was made by a certain mountain stream lure angler in the Tohoku region of Japan.
Its name is "SAMORIBA GRATIS 50S".
This time, we will use a full-fledged mountain stream minnow that surpasses the local minnows to fish up a valley with continuous dams.
*It is scheduled to be released in early May.

It’s been a long time (^^) Sorry for not being able to upload mountain stream fishing videos! There is also the threat of bears, but recently there has been a lot of competition between anglers to secure fishing spots, making it difficult...(^^;)

With all due respect, your content is very valuable. Thanks a lot for your efforts, I hope it pays off for you. I binge watched several of your videos as I try to improve myself. May I ask you some questions? First of all….is there a correlation between water temperature and lure selection? Many of the Japanese mountain stream fishermen check the water temperature and I would really like to understand why? In addition, as the market for fishing line is very confusing, what would be your line suggestion for bfs trout fishing in small streams? I always use braid with a fluorocarbon leader and started with 4 strand braid. After watching some videos of a Megabass pro staffer who‘s involved in the development of the great hunting series (rods, lures and so on), his suggestion was to use 8 strand braid for casting really light lures. Braid is much easier to cast, especially the really light stuff but….would you recommend 4 strand or 8 strand and can you please give a suggestion (Varivas seems to have some offerings as well as Sunline or Seaguar). The rods I use => glass (Palms Egeria Native ETVC 4.2 xul, Major Craft Finetail Glass FSG B 422 ul), carbon (Tailwalk Troutia Feerique 4.3 l). Reels => 23 Calcutta Conquest bfs, Gekabijin Air TW and Alphas Air TW. When I‘m more skilled I plan to buy a really nice rod such as Tenryu Rayz (Spectra or Integral), Great Hunting Huntsmen, Fishman Beams blancsierra or maybe something from Hitotoki Works (I‘m absolutely sold on the japanese craftsmanship, focus on detail and built quality). Maybe this comment is way too long but any answer would be highly appreciated. Greetings from Germany and have a nice evening.

Thank you for your very enthusiastic comment. And I'm also grateful that you have watched so many of my videos. First, I'll answer your question about the relationship between water temperature and lure selection. When the water temperature is low, trout stay near the bottom of the river and become sluggish. You can't expect them to bite actively. Therefore, rather than using lures that move too actively, it is more likely to catch fish by choosing lures that have a calm action and don't move too much up and down and left and right. Rather than twitching a heavy sinking minnow to fish, it is also effective to slowly attack the bottom of the river with a spinner. As for what kind of fishing line I recommend, I won't go into detail here, but I recommend all of the lines I've used in my past videos. They are all fishing lines that I have carefully selected. If you are using BFS, I recommend a line that is not too thin, about 12lb to 16lb with 8 braids. In terms of Japanese line standards, it is 0.6 or 0.8. My response was long, but I hope that your fishing life will be fulfilling.

@@tsurinan wow…thanks a lot! The lure/temperature explanation is absolutely convincing and many thanks for your line input. This is what I already have on my reels (8strand, 0.8 gou) with an 8 pound fluorocarbon leader (the brown trout in my stream is rather small, something above 2 to 3 pounds is very rare). I will emphasize more on the line you use in your videos in the future 😀

Thank-you for posting this video, it was very enjoyable to experience the beautiful surroundings. Sometimes the fishing can be tough in the early spring. I heard your bear bells and wondered if you encountered had ever bears in these remote places? I have had two meetings with bears in our area. The first was on a small stream like this. I became aware of a sound and, about 10 metres away, a female bear came down the bank crossed through the stream, followed by her cub! The most dangerous situation, but I must have been downwind and quiet enough that she wasn't aware of my presence. I slowly and quietly moved back into the bush on the side of the stream, pretending to be a tree 😀 After a few minutes standing perfectly still, I proceeded to make lots of noise to let her know I was around the (black bears generally are shy of people, unless they are starving and desperate for food). The other encounter was on a small river and the bear appeared on the other side of the stream, about 70 metres away. That time I used a whistle to make the bear aware of my presence, held my jacket out wide (to look large) and waved my arms 😀, after standing-up to see what was making the noise, the bear dropped to all fours and ran back into the bush 😀. In my advancing years I've started to carry bear spray (it is available here but controlled) however, I hope never to have to use it 😅 The bear with the cub is the worst situation and not too uncommon in the spring. Cheers from Northern Ontario, Canada

Thank you for watching the video. I think the Canadian bear is a larger species than the Japanese bear, so it's really scary. In recent years, bears have been frequent in this region, and reports of human damage have increased many times in recent years. Bear bells and bear spray are essential items, and when entering the mountain, firecrackers are used to make loud noises to alert people to the presence of humans. I hope you can fish safely too.

Because fish cannot swim upstream, this is a mountain stream where species that have lived since ancient times have been preserved. It's very unfortunate, but there is a village downstream, so we have no choice but to take safety measures. Thank you for watching the video!
