That's amazing with all these sodium-based street lights on the Gardiner Expressway.

Great video. I was there every summer from 1968 onward. The CNE was great (it was a true exhibition of goods, services, transit, agriculture, horses, farm animals, foods, and of course, the permanent midway) until the 1985 season when they started whittling it down to what it is today. A shadow of its former self. And anyone remember how good the food building used to be? It's merely a crappy food court now. Oh well, times change.

The attraction that made the comeback is the skyride (in a form of a chairlift)

@@alexanderip1003 It's a decent attempt to recreate the Alpine Way.

I wish the Ex was still like this today. It was so much better back then.

I remember in 19 73 or 74 going down to Russell car house on the Friday before Labour Day to see what was happening. The yard was totally empty when an operator showed up and as the superintendent if he could operate an extra. The superintendent said that everything that could run was out except for the Peter Witt. The operator said he was qualified on the Witt and he ran two trips on a Race Track Trip[per, McCaul to Woodbine loop. Probably the last regular service run by a Witt.

Isn't this the 1979 centennial year? I was there and loved it. The midway had all the vintage rides that were used way back when.

Some of it may be. Richard didn't label stuff. But the transit display is definitely from 1978
