Thanks for very usefull information . I wait for second part of this experiment

Comfort is another important factor. In long, flat races, a TT bike helps conserve more energy, which you can then use to your advantage during the running stage

Ok, let's wait for the results of your experiment on the road bike with TT bars. That would be interesting...

Thank you for the video, Suren. You know, the more videos on this hot topic, the more different opinions. As for me, having a basic CX bike with aerobars, profits from switching to a tri bike are still not obvious in terms of speed/aero efficiency. It would be interesting to see the results of the same comparison but for the road bikes equipped with aerobars

It’s obvious that the difference is small for a short ride, but like you said - it’s one thing to go aggressive on a road bike for 1km vs a full Ironman. TT for the win, if you are serious about the result, no question about it

Wow, this is very smart. I’ve never heard such a cool description of bikes. I’m new to this sport, but I’m interested in which bike is better for heavy guys like me.

Very good video. Useful information, I’m still in doubt what to do, upgrade my road bike or buy TT. Waiting for second part regarding bar installation on road bike. 😊

It's surprising to see that there isn't a huge speed difference between the road bike and TT bike at lower power outputs, and even at 250 watts, the TT bike was only marginally faster. It seems like position and comfort play a much bigger role than just the bike itself. Nick's improvement shows the potential of the TT bike, but I appreciate the detailed breakdown of how much being aggressive in your aero position on a road bike can close the gap. Would love to see a *follow-up experiment* with aero extensions on the road bike!

I think those speeds are too low to really get the advantage of TT bike. From my experience of riding time trials, you really start to feel the benefit when going 40+. And of course the benefit is from the fit you are able to get with TT bike, not the bike itself. Even bike manufacturers claim aerodynamic advantage in ballpark of 10watts at 45km/h speeds.

Nice try, especially to repeat the test by multiple people, however 1km is too short to make conclusions and then extrapolate to the full distance. GCN presenters usually compare bikes on mixed terrain (uphill, flat, descend) on longer loops.

I guess the difference between the TT and the road bike with air extensions is just an air resistance of the handlebar.

The TT bike seems works at high speeds of 40+. In my personal experience 300w on a road bike - gives 37 km/h, but under the same conditions on a TT 42+ km/h. The higher the speed, the more help from the TT

One thing people always forget. You need to run after the bike leg in an ironman. And spending 6 hours in a tt bike in the aero position, with a closed hip angle, makes it more difficult to run afterward
@剎那ZАй бұрын
high end TT bike is faster than high end road bike ,but tt bike can made me relax more my hand and leg, and after a long bike section ,so i can run smoother than road bike ,that's the main reason i use TT bike.

Speed at 300w is suspiciously slow, we just rode an itt on a racing circuit 22km total, my avg watts was 296 and speed 41.7 on a usual road bike But that might be because i have the best bike ever - Canyon aeroad 😂
