I'm testing to see if fuel actually impacts the weight and feel of the bikes in TT isle of man 3

That's the Clypse course - love that one, my current favourite. Fuel in the tank is a factor of real bikes; you hear riders talking about the difference between a full fuel load and reduced fuel load, but it's not something that has been modelled in motorbike racing games so far. If you look at where the tank sits on a motorcycle, all that weight is above the centre of gravity and the point of rotation so that difference in weight would affect the way the bike and how quickly the bike leans in, and can be picked up again. The game physics engine they use, which came from rims racing, does to me feel like it models weight and the feeling of mass more than most games, so I wonder if they accounted for fuel weight as well? Because we're not interacting with the bike in our games like we do in real life, we're not sitting on it and having these forces affect our bodies, there might be some things that are very hard to get a feeling for from the Visual representation alone, and just using our thumbs to steer with. It's likely to come down to a matter of our prejudged perception, in that if you think it makes a difference you'll tend to feel a difference, and if you don't think it makes a difference, then everything will seem normal. Very hard one to call, but thanks for highlighting it - gives me another factor to look into. I am loving this game and finding it quite addictive, the domains respecting concentration so I can't race when I'm tired or had a few drinks, but I do sometimes just get on a bike and go for a ride around the island looking at different parts.

Thanks for an interesting comment! So, if I am looking for a simulation-type bike racing game, like the MotoGP games of late, where the front brake can lock up if you press too quickly or too much… should I get this game? Does it provide thrill and excitement? Are the AI challenging enough? 🤔

I’ve always felt strongly about a lot of things in these bike racing games and one of those things are placebo affects. I think a lot of players mistake their own abilities for a bike change or setting change. The reality I believe is the player is simply learning the track and improving. Regardless of the setup. I think only when you’ve peaked you should be extensively looking at settings etc. only then you should really be able to tell. I still don’t use any settings or setups on bike games. I made one change on SBK and swore by it.. but recently I played without changing the setting and I was still just the same. Yes the concentration is difficult. These massive straights affect my focus and when it comes to getting back in tight and twisty sections I make the mistakes 😂

I’d say the challenge is now more in the form of cornering and entering corners with the right speed. You can slam on the brakes quite firm but if you enter a corner too wide or not at the right speed, it will guarantee a crash

Your turns are so smooth now! Looks very realistic, the way you're riding. I am inspired to get this game.

DON'T !! Wait for a sale and some upgrades, believe me, their are issues that need fixing and $70+ equals a hard pass for a game like this....Moto GP 23 will be out in 2 weeks and I'm hoping that will satisfy the bike racing itch !!

Just did a full 4 lap supersport tt. Started with a full tank and still had 3/4 of a tank after 2 laps. Came into pits anyway because I had never done a pitstop in the game and wanted to see what it was like. It's annoying how the game does not have realistic fuel consumption because in real life the tank would be close to empty after 2 laps. Also noticed an animation of the pit crew changing both tyres, which they don't normally do in real life in the supersport tt, and didn't give an option for if I wanted new tyres or not. Would be good if it let you choose wether you want new tyres or not or just a rear tyre change.

You can customise your fuel load before starting the session. You can then get the bike to run out of fuel for the 2nd lap 👍🏻

"Maybe I'm just dead inside"...... haha 😄 That was brilliant. I think you're right, the fuel and suspension are just placebos. The one thing that does make a difference is gearing and electronics, and that's actually 2 things..... 🤔 You're so damn good at this game, i gotta get on it more. When you look at all the pop in and that stupid gear changing bug that refused to leave me alone last night, i doubt these devs bothered too much with the intricate details as much as we think. It needs a patch or 3 quick fire. I sense that all the secrets of this game lie within the minds of the wacky inflatable wavy armed tubemen but I'm having difficulties extracting information......... 🤪

Yeah I reckon the gearing and electronics are the difference makers. For me the figuring out the electronics was key 🔥 Thanks mate! I feel like I’m improving. Still not confident on the tracks yet. A lot of unknown braking and some crashes. I’ll get there though. I have to agree, I think sometimes we can look into things too much and the wishful thinking takes over where we believe something works which didn’t make a difference. I’ve been guilty of this in the past. As I’ve said from the beginning players mistake a setting change or an electronics change as the difference maker rather than them just giving themselves credit for learning the track and gaining confidence. The great Tubeman knows the secrets ❤️

@@DrAce46 your videos have really helped me with the electronics, they can interfere too much, you've helped me dial mine in to what I like. I played 100s of hours of TT2 and was in the top 200 for times on all bikes but you'd rinse me and make it look easy too! 😅 The other tracks too are so intricate and nuanced just like the Snaefell. I still discover some weird quirk on the Snaefell every time I ride it so those other courses are gonna need some serious time. Iv put all suspension settings back to default now. I must also thank you for the steering settings you showed, they're pretty game changing, much less choppy now 👍 The tubemen are the Gods of the IOM, I'm working on a way to learn from them...... 🥳

Great stuff mate! I'm glad the guide was useful! I think once it all comes together with the tracks and the ideal electronics. the lap times should be great!!

@@DrAce46 Iv managed a few tenths of a second under 20 minutes round the Snaefell so far and somehow, that's put me at #38 on the leaderboards?!?! 🤷‍♂️ I crashed loads, was a very poor lap really. I don't think they're combined leaderboards though as in Xbox, PlayStation and PC. What's your best yet? I bet you've smashed my time! 😅

needs further research i think, you probably still had enough fuel on board for 2 TT laps, try .03 gal or as little as you can get away with for a single sector, average out multiple try's, couple of warm ups etc but tbh, not sure that i noticed a difference when i first dropped my fuel load but i was nowhere near as good at the game then, might be an interesting test

Fuels a gray area the weight is lowered so you stop a bit quicker in some cases but depending on setup can make yku lise speed yes a lighter bike should be faster but more weight makes more pressure to the road so depends on what the bike needs
@DrAce46
@DrAce46 Жыл бұрын
I just don’t think the game actually takes it into consideration. I was told that some players felt like it was a game changer and it resulted in large time differences. If it does make any difference it must be very marginal

@DrAce also try the BMW with no rear compression it feels better in the corners first me although I might put some compression for jumps or stoppies but with it lower its feels more stable

I could try but I doubt there will be a difference, I don’t think it’s coded in the game to change anything apart from the amount of fuel that you have

@@DrAce46 idk, it just makes the bike feel much lighter and more responsive. are u playing on PC? maybe they skipped that detail on console, or maybe it's that heinous dual- sense controller u use idk lol. honestly tho, I've been playing around with it again today and there isn't THAT huge of a difference but it is noticeable. it's just really cool that they went this far with the detail in this game. this gene really IS a masterpiece !!!

I upgraded my bike as I went along the season and I hit a sweet spot it was handling great. And then as I’ve progressed up the upgrades it just handles like dog shit now. Besides been a faster bike it just feels like a lump now and doesn’t want to turn and super twitchy and slidy. Annoying as the upgrades really seem like downgrades as you progress to be honest.

@@DrAce46 Yeah, I'm more used to smooth animations of Ride. Even my friend said the animations there were amazing, the transitions and such. This just looks keyframed, and not exactly a stellar job to be honest. I mean, If you've seen the trailer for Unrecord, everything in there is keyframed and yet it looks super realistic.

Yeah the animations in Milestone’s bike games are top notch. Watching replays back in that game looks believable. But for TT they’re still good and I love the leg dangle and honestly you really don’t notice any animations when you’re racing so it’s not distracting. Yeah I seen that, looks like that game will give me motion sickness dude 😂
