I already prefer them than native Nikon Z lenses except for wildlife. Both 7artisans and TTartisan have amazing fast lenses 🎅🏻

@@dicekolev5360 then you have extremely poor judgement for lens quality because those cheap Chinese lenses don’t hold a candle to anything in the Nikkor Z lineup, regardless of price point, and there is NOTHING “amazing” about any of 7artisans or TTArtisan offerings, absolutely nothing! In most cases old manual lenses from 40+ years ago can outperform their junk

Chris, I've noticed you mention focus breathing not being an issue for video makers on a few of your videos now - just wanted to say for wide lenses us landscape photographers really appreciate this information as well! I often require focus stacking for my work and lenses with focus breathing can make this incredibly hard. It's one of the key aspects I look for in UWA lenses.

Rectilinear, almost without distortion, f2 , and for video on a full frame camera with stabilization crop you get an effective 13mm, for the price this is a fantastic lens.

I'd like to request for a review of 7artisans 12mm f2.8 mark ii, also apsc lens. There are not many reviews of this lens. I wanna know how the CA is like at the corners and what the sun star looks like. Im looking for a "sun star" lens to add to my arsenal and this 10mm f2 looks like a major candidate.

For me it's an ideal lens for video with a full frame camera. The vignette would be gone after stabilization crop.

I was watching your old video on samyang 10mm 2.8 and noticed bad quality image on center and even worse on on the corner compare to TTArtisan but you said on the commentary is good. Is it because better quality now or it's just good for the time it's released? If i can pick one, which should i choose between samyang and TTartisan?

Hey Chris, digging on your videos of late. I recently purchased this lens on the RF-Mount and it met my expectations. One thing I want to mention is that the IBIS of the R7 tweaks out after I take the first picture. It just starts shaking uncontrollably. So strange! When I turn the IBIS off and then on again, the problem is fixed until I turn the camera off and on again. Figured I might as well mention it here in case someone picks it up and they don't know to input the focal length in the IBIS menu and turn the IBIS off and then on after the first picture.

I wonder how this compares to the old manual focus Samyang/Rokinon 12mm F2. That's available used for a very similar price ......

I believe the rok has better image quality for the age, better coma for astro and 67mm might be a better filter thread size. The ttartisan is better with flaring The main question is if you need 10(15) or 12(18) focal length. I am biased because I own the rok but I'm looking forward to get the af version with better coating

I have both They are NOT similar in price (TT is cheaper) and Samyang 12mm is much sharper than TT 10mm (and with less optic issues)

@@jyaneso I've just checked . Used price for the manual rokinon is basically the same as the tt artisan in the UK. Can't comment for where you are.

@@jyaneso That's interesting. I bought the Samyang 12 f2 second hand and I'm really not impressed with sharpness. Hence why I am here watching this video, considering another cheap alternative. It sounds like the TTartisan won't really be any better sharpness wise though.

For Fuji X, I'm still stuck on the Fuji 8mm f3.5. Slower, but wider. Much pricier, but optically perhaps the best UWA available outside the humungous 8-16mm, which I own but never carry just because I MIGHT use it.

Or the Viltrox 13 at the other end of the price spectrum, not as wide, but the corners of this remind me of the Fuji 10-24 I got rid of, because past 16mm, the 18-55 is better anyway.

@@awake780 potentially, but if you watch Chis’ review, the corners still seem pretty soft, which for the kind of landscapes I like to shoot doesn’t work particularly well. It seems like it has the same problem the 10-24 does, which is that by the time you correct a shot at 10mm in something like DxO, you may as well have been shooting the Viltrox 13 or Fuji 14 because the distortion means you lose a bunch of your image.

Please keep talking :-). So valuable... Well, with this optical quality it must be a bit of a disaster on the Canon R7 with 32.5 Mpix. Canon's 10-18 may be better optically, but it starts at f/4... corner sharpness is key for such a wide angle. I wonder how it would hold up on an R8 in crop mode. R8 crop is about 10 Mpix which is similar to my departed 40D, more than enough for most purposes. Gosh, what a breathtaking imager this R8 is!

No, it's for apsc sensor. You can crop but it'll be too much and a waste for your camera capability.

I guess for $159 it's an OK lens for someone on a budget (and who doesn't mind manual focus). Luckily color fringing you can sort of deal with in post processing so it's not the end of the world. I have one of their 7.5mm fisheyes I bought for about $150 and granted it's not anything like the OEM versions (from Nikon, Canon or Sony) it also costed a fraction of the price, so given it's price point ($150 for the fisheye, or even $159 for this wide angle) I think they are acceptable options. Obviously you aren't paying much here so you likely aren't getting anything extraordinary either.

Well, it's aimed as budget friendly option for smaller sensor (which is generally more affordable). The surface area for fullframe is considerably large and made the cost production skyrocket!

@@doorkum Listening to it again, it sounds like a combination between boka and boke, so can't really tell, but doesn't quite sound right. I usually tell English speakers it is closest to the pronunciation for "bouquet", as in a bouquet of flowers (said by an American. Not sure of England.).
