This is a really cool full scale model of a transit system they built. Took a while but it's cool nonetheless. I think it would be a good idea if they built one that could be used by people though.

Why does Ontario (Metrolinx) refuse to use transit signals that the rest of the world uses? Without the English-only verbage sign clutter.
@cmmartti9 ай бұрын
Ontario does use the white bar transit signals in other locations, but I'm not sure why the Eglinton line doesn't use them.
@JayFow9 ай бұрын
cause why not?
@OntarioTrafficMan6 ай бұрын
Because a white bar in Toronto means "turn left or right but do not go straight". If they put white bars on the ECLRT the trains wouldn't be able to move anywhere.

What is your feeling based on?@@transitgoods2477 Do you have inside knowledge? I live at Yonge and Eg and I can finally say after so many years that I think it will open this year... the above ground section has been pretty much done for years now, all the stations are complete, and Yonge & Eg is almost fully back to normal.
@mattrix42009 ай бұрын
@@stephen9609 based on? The project manager for Metrolinx has said repeatedly that they will NOT commit to a 2024 date at this time, and typically speaking there can be upwards of at least one year of signal & computer interface testing. Sadly this is the age old addage of ''just because it 'looks' good, doesn't mean it is.'' My prediction would be a Spring opening in 2025 because I can't see them opening it during winter months.

That always drives me batty with North American transit. It’s so slow! Transit is treated like a Sunday pleasure cruise. Not an actual method of transport.
@lepoldbuttersstotch9 ай бұрын
@@tcsnowdream9975Slow design, consult, build, financing, too many NIMBYs, not ambitious enough. I don't know the frequency but any rubbish or snow or ice on the long track could spell havoc for the entire line since most of it is above ground. Hopefully the team from France, UK, Germany thought of this...
@lepoldbuttersstotch9 ай бұрын
@@tcsnowdream9975 The issue is they always compare to North America which has the worst public transit per $. Transit in Canada should be aiming for Asian or Western European levels or service, which is good that they have DB as technical partners. A step in the right direction.
