Their table tennis is beautiful, I love these two champions. Kenta’s backhand is poetry.

That missed serve by Samsonov was crucial!

Great match! Good to see Samsonov still going strong after so many years. But this time Kenta deserves to win with his fantastic footwork and his great fighting spirit.

This has to be one of the most exciting games I’ve watched! Two great players. Kenta in his heyday

1:19 this shot saved Matsudaira. Up until this point Samsonov played a very analytical calm game aiming for an easy 4:0 or 4:1 with winning the first set pretty decisive and being in a 9:5 lead in the second. But insteady of 10:5 it was an 9:6 with Matsudaira barely snatching away the second game, warming up his forehand backhand switch making this match a beautiful slugfest of 7 sets.

Emils Rubins lol yes. See 2014 WTTTC Matsudaira Vs Franziska. Almost every tomahawk resulted in a point for Franziska on the serve return

More like overcomplicated and useless. He should have focused on the development of his pendulum and reverse pendulum serve.

@@torneycarblos9140 At least I don't have knee injuries lol. There has to be a reason almost no pro player uses the tomahawk serve. It's very hard on the knees and difficult to keep short and low.

Kenta already proven to all players who has complete technic. From offensive to defensive all covered. He played very intelligent game. Completely different from all other players. He will go for every ball. Of course, age catching up will slowdown in the matter of time. Overall, you never get bored watching his matches esp. against Ma Lin s match.

would name this match something like Clash of Blocks and Placements. i know these two are very different players but still very much comparable in many ways, in similar category like Waldner, Samsonov, Kenta and Koki Niwa to some extends.
