Thank you for showing the draft. I really like the puzzle of figuring out which civs will be used and why, and when we don’t see what’s drafted and what’s banned, that’s impossible.

Celts. I love that the Devs used Brave Heart as inspiration for the celts and went with the early to high middle ages build and not high to late middle ages. I also love their UT strongholds, to represent the hillforts they made extensive use of. The only way I would alter the DE2 Celts are as follows: UT imp:Furor Celtica Ram +40% HP and increased Ram speed. Stable Light cav No knight available in castle age but upon reaching imp you can automatically train cavalier (Same goes for Gaels/Irish) To show their lack of heavy cav until the Hospitallars set up a branch HQ in Scotland in th 1200’s AD. AR Archer - Crossbowmen (But wielding a regular bow) (Same goes for Gaels/Irish) Elite skirm should have +1 Melee armour and also benefit from the Infantry move 15% faster bonus. SW Siege ram Mangonel Scorpion

Talking about units swimming over bits of water; I'd love to see the folowing civ added to DE2 Medieval Polynesians/ Tuʻi Tonga Empire. Tribal infantry and naval civ Civ has no war gallies nor fire ships but instead have tribal war catamarans that is 0.5 pop space. UU castle/Luakini: Ali'i/Maori warrior - Wielding an elongated wooden club bristling with shark teeth all along its edges. Can traverse (swim over) narrow rivers and small bodies of water (Cost food and wood). UU Dock:War Catamarans + Trade Catamaran - fast moving trade cogs that fires defensive arrows whilst travelling along trade routes. Unique tech 1: Haka - Infantry gain + 1 attack and + 1 armour. Unique tech 2: Fa'amatai : Stellar navigators allows all coastlines to become explored and all great fish to become visible +2 LOS to docks. Civ team bonus :Heated Shot cost reduction by 50% Civ bonus1: Shore fish last longer. Civ bonus 2:Hill of the whale: Can garrison villagers in Docks, causing it to fire defensive arrows. Civ bonus 3:Lava stone Castles: Castles built in the vicinity of water cost only 500 Stone and gain a 25% HP boost. Civ bonus4: Bombard towers created on the shore line cost - 25% stone. Civ bonus5: Free heated shot . Wonder : Moai (Stone heads ) Barracks: Full line for sword and spear. Champions wield Fijian Totokia spiked clubs Spearman have a higher HP than normal. Archery range : Full skirm line . Hand cannoneer No cav If enemy or allies obtain Chemistry , then the Polynesians receive it as well for free. (Can't research chemistry out of own volition.) Siege : Bombard cannon Battering ram. Onager . Dock: . UU Dock:Trade Catamaran - fast moving trade cogs that fires defensive arrows whilst travelling along trade routes. War Catamaran, transport Catamaran , fishing canoes. Able to fire arrows ,fast ,agile and only using 0.5 pop space but they don't have access to Gally line, nor cannon. Gallons. All canoes can carry/transport 3-5 units. Don’t have access to fire ships but get fire canoes that shoot fat covered fire arrows (Fat burns intensely hot). Tech in dock:Fat covered fire arrows - +3 attack to canoes. Catamarans move faster than canoes. Catamarans transporting hand canonneers gain added attack.

There were numerous cases where the enemy was just out of range, killing vills where if Yo had Hillforts, he would have in turn been killing the enemy's army. Hill Forts is one of my all time favorite UTs. It is so useful to safeguard your economy at home. It then allows you to gain momentum and retain momentum in a solid frontal attack. ‘’Pro’’ players that refrain from researching it due to their unfounded belief that the tech is not useful , constitutes their defeat to be well deserved. Yo's epic use of Litis is what gave him the victory.

MBL pointed out that Liereyy killed his first boar in the last game with his tc, you can just see it sinking into the ground when T90 pans over to it as he brings in the second. Wonder if that might have made a difference?

Game 2 with the Saracens and Cumans using siege weapons against each other reminds me a lot of the Arab-Khazar Wars, where both sides did exactly that.

Vikings. We need a completely new architecture set for the Vikings (That resemble their beautiful Norse church wonder) Have Vikings lose free hand cart + lose Arbalerster but instead they get Halbedier,(NB!) have their longboats be able to attack as well as transport foot units (Infantry/vils/monks/kings only) (loses transport ships (until castle age) but they have non attacking Longboats in feudal age.) and gift them cheap trash units Halbs + strong Angon Skirmishers. Longboats transporting skirmishers gain added pierce armour and attack. Feudal age longboats transporting skirmishers gains an attack. When infantry destroys an eco building 50 of the connected resource gets looted and added to your stockpile. (borrowed Idea) They could also give the berserkers a new trait that allows them to accumulate Food or Gold when damaging an enemy building thus aiding in their ecco in an accurate and interesting way. Since they get Halbs change their unique tech Chieftains should allow Beserks to be made in TCs and docks even after all castles have been lost. But dock wood cost increases to 200W. I’d enjoy raiding coastlines and rivers using longboats to transport infantry and Angon skirms to the shores of my enemies. I'd say give them other buffs to help in the late game, for instance to have their eco speciality exchanged with the Byzantines speciality. The Vikings came from a cold, barren mountainous/fjord covered boggy area, Norway,Sweden,Scandinavia where agriculture was highly difficult to maintain, thus their focus was on fishing, but as their culture and cities grew, it became a necessity to raid other shores/peoples in order to survive and thrive. Thus they started to use their brilliant longboats to conquer the northern seas and raid countless European and Mediterranean kingdoms. So I was wandering, why the devs gave the Vikings (Which literally mean Raiders) such a strong economy by means of free handcart and wheelbarrow? Where the Byzantines/Persians are famous for already having a well established society and Empire by the time of the Middle ages (They had wheelbarrow even before the Western Roman empire fell), with a professional standing army and immense economy and trade. (For such a strong wealthy Empire, why do they have to focus on Trash units in game?) For me, the two civs will be perfectly compensated to have those two traits switch. The Byzantines get an ecco upgrade like free wheelbarrow and the Vikings get cheap trash units. Now, combine that with their unique tech Chieftains to allow Beserks to be made in TCs and docks even after all castles have been lost, but dock wood cost increases to 200W. And Vikings/Norse will be beast and much more interesting! That will always allow Vikings to create Beserkes in large numbers and have cheap Halbs and Angon/Frakka skirms to back them up throughout the game and into the late game. (Celt skirms also need a buff) No need for arbs. Then you take your Berserks+ trash , get onto your longboats and go Viking/Raid the enemy shores. (Without wasting wood nor pop space on Transport ships) They could also give the berserkers a new trait that allows them to accumulate Food or Gold when damaging an enemy building thus aiding in their ecco in an accurate and interesting way. VIKINGS SHOULD LOSE ARBS! (If the Vikings get split then the Later Chrstian Kingdom of the Swedes will have Arbalesters but the traditional old Norse civ Vikings/Norse/Danes should have an emphasis on Viking raiders thus Infantry+Skirms+infantry transporting Longboats) See this very good video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoiwaWiZoMqpgtk To boost the proper attributes of a civ and negate the inaccurate /unneeded elements of a civ, gives them a distinct cultural identity, makes them more interesting to play as and more varied to play against and improves the overall feel of the game. It will be superb. Then with the addition of the Swedes, people whom prefer to use Hand cannoneers + Arbs can then use all that + war hammer wielding infantry and or Knights in the late game. Norse/Vikings: Pagan, early aggression, raiding using Infantry, cheap trash,Strong Agnon Skirms, transported in longboats. And Swedes: Christian , late game focus, expensive units , using Hand cannoneers, Arbs, Knights + warhammer plated infantry to crush their enemies. The Byzantines had massive armies, not because they used cheap levies , but instead they had some of the world's most Elite soldiers from all across their vast empire, as a professional standing army. Equipped with the finest of armour (scale mail) and weapons from the west (Such as the Spatha sword for their cataphracts and straight swordsmen ) and weapons evolved/updated from all across their mighty empire , the Levant/Mesopotamia and North Africa, such as their eloquent Paramerion curved sword used by their Elite cavalry (Paladins) and Champions, only due to their brilliant administrative skills and a monstrous economy. Pardon my essays, but I adore Byzantine history,culture and military. After the Crusading civs, they are my favourite civ ever. Where in turn the Norsemen were not a highly trained elite force , using standardised equipment, but instead were hardy and brave fighters whom in the harvest season were regular townsfolk and only relished warfare due to their religion / customs. So they were hardy and fierce fighters eager to go raid and battle at a whim ... thus they will take up their shields, spears, sword , javelins and axes and go fight/raid even when not being paid ... thus they are obvious cheap units. Cheap trash will fit them perfectly. Vikings/Norse could also gain another unit in the Barracks, the Shield Maiden. Shield Maiden - Limited build amount (Up to 20) Low HP ,average pierce armour and same attack as a longswordsman but when mixed into a formation of infantry , the shield maiden as well as all the infantrymen gain +1 attack and +1 pierce armour. Byzantines. In turn have Byzantines lose Hand cannoneer, bombard cannon and bombard tower , [to have them not become intensely OP and these forms of warfare was much more used by their neighbours (Italy) and enemies (Turks)].(If WB+HC goes to Persia then no need for Byzantines to loose gunpowder) Trash becomes more expensive and Imp becomes more expensive but Civ gets free wheel burrow and free hand cart. (For even when they were still the Eastern Roman empire, they already had WB+HC)(If Persia gets Free HC+Free WB then Byzantines retain their cheap camels) Byzantines get a unique tech in the Feudal age barracks: Justinian Reforms - Sword line +1 Melee or Pierce armour from castle age. (Optional) Enables the technology of Varangian Guard from the Feudal age. In Feudal age , Byzanitne army (As well as Viking allies) gain access to a special unit in the Barracks called the Varangian Guard. - Expensive , slow moving but difficult to convert with a limited build amount. Since the Byzantines are a Defensive civ, the Varangian Guards can have a high attack boost when in the vicinity of a TC or Castle but outside a certain radius from these buildings the VG should lose the strong attack bonus and just be as strong as a normal Man at Arms/Long Sword/Champion. (Highly loyal guards of the Emperor) To defend against early rushes , but since they are expensive,slow and limited, you will have to think strategically as to when and where to deploy/station them. Unique Castle techs remain Logistica. Greek fire - Fireships damage adjacent ships. (Loses the useless+1 range buff) Please give Byzantines Camel trade carts and a proper architecture something like this will be perfect: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1275323988 since 80% of their empire and trade stretched across the deserts of Anatolia, the Levant and North Africa. Byzantine ships should also acquire beautiful coloured Lateen sails still adorned with a cross.

I have honestly never seen Liery play as bad as he did in game 1. I have NEVER seen him play that poorly.

Current civ alteration needs. Steppe tribes Nomadic architecture set for the Nomad civs, Mongols get Yurt houses and steppe Nomad architecture. Tartars + Cumans get Yurts for dark age houses and Huns too get steppe Nomad architecture. The Mongol Yurts should have less HP but also be much cheaper. With their Unique tech 'Nomads'' if their cheap , low HP Yurts goes down, then they need not create more. It will be perfect. Armenians should get the current Tatar extra Hill bonus damage in exchange for faster moving CA + Tatar, Mongol and Hun scouts have the ability to lame enemies hunt/livestock.(Scorched earth tactics) Franks/British/Italian/Sicilians Add some more special units to represent the knightly,chivalric Crusader orders , such as a Templar knight or a Hospitilar knight to the Franks/British/Italian/Sicilians , Templar having the option to convert 1 unit for every charge up and the Hospitilar having the option to heal 1 unit for every charge up. Or perhaps add these as technologies that can be researched in the Church 'Templar Order' & 'Hospitilar order' that will grant the already existing knights of the British/Franks/Italians/Sicilians these abilities. Templar and Hospitaller knights gain a +2 attack boost + 25% HP(Or conversion resistance) when within LOS of a Relic or friendly church containing one or more relics.. Islamic civs In turn the Islamic civs:Saracens, Turks, Tartars can receive a tech in the mosque called :Jizya tax, for every knightly unit they convert, you receive 10gold in castle age and 20gold in imperial age. Mediterranean Pirates: Saracens,Berbers,Turks:Warships Destroying a full trade cog allows the gold to be looted and added to your stockpile. Saracens ‘’Counterweights tech gets replaced by a new tech; Arabian horses +10% cavalry speed. (Cavalry not Camelry)

in game 1 i didn't like Yo's walls, should have went around the outside of the hills where the trees were bc where he put them, they were at the bottom of the hills so they would get the xtra hill bonus damage....and game 3 niether gound those 2 water buffulo to the north east of yo at the start...

Serious question: Every pro that does a tier list for civs ranks Franks as at least A tier, if not S. That said we hardly ever see them in tournaments these days. WHY? My theory: Familiarity breeds contempt. Such an old civ that people just don’t want to play them. That said Britons still get played a lot so I’m still asking Why not use an A/S tier civ more???

It's a 1-trick civ right? Opponent will know the knights are coming, there are plenty of counters, and there arent a huge number of options to switch into as Franks if the knights/cavalier fail (no Arb, no Hussar, bad CA, no SO or Siege Ram, no redemption). Looking at the civs that get picked a lot it's either mass ranged, mass CA, camels, or strong monks. It's a civ that's strong at nearly every ELO, but in the very top players in a tournament it's too 1-dimensional.

@@MikeHesk742 I’ll disagree with it being a 1 trick civ. Hera has talked plenty of times about how he often goes crossbow with Franks. Post imp, yeah they go Cav, but so do a lot of other civs. Plenty of civs could be considered 1 trick (insert any archer civ) It’s about how good they are at it, and Franks have the best cav in the game and the most bonuses for them

@@irish_owl21 I guess I'm working backwards from the knowledge that pros arent picking it, that there must be a reason. For me the lack of options in Imp (not just post-imp, but the second you end up in imp) is the most likely explanation. It's a good civ with an early eco bonus, better feudal scouts, fully upgradable crossbow into castle. But would you ever go into a tournament with 1 of your precious civ-drafts being a civ that needs to win before imp or you're dead?

@@MikeHesk742 honestly, I think so. Plenty of civs struggle in Post-Imp. Before the nerf to Vikings it was known as a fast imp/kill quick civ, because if they didn’t kill in early imp with fast arb they weren’t seen as anything special, but still got chosen almost every draft and used. I look at other Cav civs like Lithuanians. They hardly ever go to Post-Imp. Same with Magyars. Idk, I feel like most games end well before you get to that super late game. Ty for the replies btw. Love discussing the game with others on here :)

​@@irish_owl21 I have to agree with Mike here, they're indeed a one trick pony at the top 100 level. If opponent sees you going archer/xbow then they know your castle age is delayed and they have to hold with some skirms and early mangoes and they already know your transition. And mostly the civ tier lists are made with open maps like arabia on mind where kts generally shine. The reason they generally work even on top level in ara is because players generally dont always try to full wall on ladder IMO. With Vikings at least you get a rolling eco bonus and can go arb/kts or at least one other power unit in Berserk.

Think idle time on any production building is usually pretty useless information especially if you have several in different areas of the map while you expand so the ones at home might not be producing for good reason

Civs that do not gain access to Good cavalry,nor gunpowder,nor elephants and a weak navy should instead receive strong bonuses for their vills,infantry and trash. Lithuanians ‘’Skirmishers and spearmen move 10% faster’’ bonus should go to a new Mapuches/Tarascans civ that forms part of a New DLC. And the (Spearman-line and Skirmishers +2P armour) should go to the Zaputechs. In turn Lithuanians towershields tech applies to their crossbows and their sword line. . Dravidians I would love to see the Dravidian ‘’Skirmishers attack 25% faster’’ bonus go to a new Mapuches/Tarascans civ that forms part of a New DLC Islanders DLC Taíno/Arawak peoples / Carib kingdom/Tupi Zaputechs Mapuches/Tarascans. Toltecs Polynesians/ Tuʻi Tonga Empire. In turn the Dravidian Urumi gains the ability to build docks and faster firing hand cannoneers. Franks Added Bonus: Spotters - Trebuchets located next to friendly castles gain improved accuracy. Franks/British/Italian/Sicilians Add some more special units to represent the knightly,chivalric Crusader orders , such as a Templar knight or a Hospitilar knight to the Franks/British/Italian/Sicilians , Templar having the option to convert 1 unit for every charge up and the Hospitilar having the option to heal 1 unit for every charge up. Or perhaps add these as technologies that can be researched in the Church 'Templar Order' & 'Hospitilar order' that will grant the already existing knights of the British/Franks/Italians/Sicilians these abilities.
