very nice match. and both styles are awesome, Joo's defence and schlagers art to play, like them really.

I think it was very important for Joo to win this game because of their game in 2003. He even closed his mouth sometimes during the game (not often though but still a few times)

Purely epic.. at first Schlager really knows how to fight a chopper he knows where to hit the ball.. but sooner joo se hyuk knew that he`s counter attacks can beat schlager.. really nice

Beautiful! The off+ power of Schlager and the rich Korean history of defense++ from Joo-See Hyuk. It was amazing to see the outcome of this match. A come from behind victory for the Korean. Defense won out. However, you have to give Schlager credit for some unbelievable winners. What killed him? The unforced errors... You must realize that when someone chops against topspin loops it combines the spin every time. The spin levels of the ball are unsurpassed at these kinds of matches!!
@17teacmrocks14 жыл бұрын
@TRaTSeRiF not so. it was the course of the match that led to the outcome. joo was looking to move into more offensive attacks. in the beginning schlager was varying the weight and spin of his shots not because of the short-long. joo was starting to get adjust by chopping lighter spin and attacking more often. that's why schlager started going for heavier topspin. because schlager's technique is more oriented towards counter topspin, he started getting worn down by the backspin late match

Schlager is playing so excellent angles. besides his serves, which are a charm, he plays an extremely powerful forehand, which i haven't seen from him in a very long time. he always seemed to play rather controlled, but he's on fire here:) apart from that, joo almost guarantees a very observer-friendly match. very nice

Watching games like this, I keep wishing I had enough of an eye for the game to see what changes, because Werner looks like he's in absolute control right out the gate. It's always interesting to see a player win because he can adjust better than his opponent. Like when you see matches that go 6-11 11-9 11-6.

@hello520111 Yeah, I know... Who cares that in 2003 they played each other in the final of WORLD TT Championship, right? Joo only beat Ma Lin on his way to the final, and Schlager beat Wang Liqin, no big deal. After all, what have THEY done to be at the top of YOUR list :) People like Joo Se Hyuk and Werner Schlager, as well as anyone who ever played in this tournament, are great players. And it doesn't matter who won this time. Both of them have done enough winning in their time

Looks like Schlager was either betrayed by his lack of conditioning or had a mental glitch. While he was playing a short-long game, while going right into the body, he was dominating. Then, it looks like Joo Se Hyuk either wore him down or he lost his concentration and started deviating from his game plan. Still, the first 2 games were textbook examples of dealing with a chopper, regardless of the final result.
@FunRunGaming14 жыл бұрын
@TRaTSeRiF totally agree..the first two games were amazing.. mid of third he seems to have lost his concentration a bit I guess as he was approaching a quick easy win.. but i have to admit that joo did an excellent job turning the match from 2-0 to 2-3. Ps my favorite is Schlager.

@trocknorat Schlager is just getting old and outclass by most of the Top Players nowadays. After his injury years ago he wasn't able to get back in his prime when he was a WTTC champion. During his prime he has no problem with defensive players. Lets not forget that his teammate is a defensive player Chen Weixing.

It irritates the hell out of me seeing the Schlager fanboys praising him in every effing video even if he loses, but fact remains that Joo is a better tactical and controlled player than him...Schlager is one arrogant hotheaded guy!
@Ionesboule9 жыл бұрын
+inyourface Joo is maybe the greatest defender in table tennis history, it's a fact, but Schlager is a monument of table tennis, one of the 3 best european players from XXIst century, he lost only by 2 points and it was a very close match, and if in this video you don't see how tactical he is and how much creativity he has in this game (especially in the first 2 sets)... well I can't help you. (but it's true that he can be quite arrogant sometimes)
