TTR Rant ~ Why Try To Max A Toon / Get 137 Laff?

A rant on why I think it's a complete waste of time to strive for 137 laff.

What do you expect from a game where you used to have to pay monthly? The longer it takes someone the more cash their reeling in. If you enjoy playing the game then by all means have at it but if you're not enjoying then I would say you're wasting your time. But If it is taking you 114 hours total to max sellbot you must be going with very slow groups lol.

Fair point, as enjoyment is certainly a factor in the question of whether it's a waste of time. One of my main points in the argument is questioning the motives and reasons why such an endless grind sparks enjoyment. And regarding the 114 hours, many people max Sellbot in 3 weeks or so if they work at it. Considering there's 21 days there, a little over 5 hours of grinding solely Sellbot each day doesn't sound too far off to me. Again, that's just my guess; to each their own.

The purpose of Toontown is to help depressed people, enjoyment, and to bring people together. Great for Adhd people too. Tommeh, what is the point of any game? FOR FUN! Duh. Like Come on. Pewdiepie makes money playing videogames, so does markiplier. People idea of a "productive life" doesn't mean working in an office all day. That why toontown is awesome because the cogs are an example of people that are boring. The cogs are things we need to get out of our lives. People need to realize that a productive life is simply being happy. And that why toontown is so special to me because through my tough times it made me happy.

Personally, I have no need to strive for 137 laff. I fish for jellybeans, I casually garden, I golf and race (when it's not buggy) just whenever I want to. I do bosses when I want to and to help others. I'll probably reach 137 laff one time or another, but it won't be me grinding. I honestly don't have any strive to grind for gags either. I usually grab tasks that tell you to fight Cog buildings, which gives more XP, and then I fight in invasions for even more XP. That's just how my priority list goes, really.

I'm lazy on my suits, like it will literally take me years to eventually get maxed suits. Also I don't even plan on maxing my toon, I think 113 Laff (my toons laff) is enough. Plus racing is boring as hell.

Some of the boosts are rather easy to get, fishing, gardening, racing, mini golf, while others require battle, and extensive time. I never got any laff boosts from cogsuits back in the days of TTO, Honestly, it's really only worth getting to 106, which gives you access to The Back Nine.

look i know the feeling of beating a game and realizing its not as fun to keep playing once you beet it in its fundamental form. but the reason we do these things"just to see the numbers go up" is because the process of getting there is fun! and we must not lose sight and forget the adventure along the way. once your on top you and your friends have all of these experiences together that you can call back on and relish in their glory. remember when we did that? yeah... we did that... it was insane how you pulled off that move. its important to keep this in mind some people enjoy just grinding for nothing. and there is nothing wrong with it if it makes them happy. but a lot of times people will do it even when it wont make them happy. thats what we have to avoid and keep sight of. this is important IRL as well.

If you play 3 hours a day, it will take you 8 months to max all suits; 4 hours, 6 months; 6 hours, 4 months.. Really this isn't all that bad for a game that's epic. Half a year, that goes by like a breeze. Fishing, and all of that... 300 hours straight.. eh not bad if you ask me. + 20 days... not bad for 137. Btw i got a friend who is 132 (almost 133), and he barely plays.

bro I remember when pigs came out and Tub O Lard maxed the first pig and got his final laff boost from GARDENING. Everything else was complete before his 8 bean combos that's impressive...on TTO I had 134 laff and it was extremely satisfying, and also, LBHQ was fun for me to max idk it wasn't mind numbingly boring like sellbot.

In TTO, there was actually a good reason to. It was an official game that was, for the most part, run pretty well. Yeah, they lacked updates but the game was still really good and the community wasn't as stupid (though still nothing to brag about). In TTR, hell to the no. It's a stupid game, run by and played by (for the most part) stupid people. The staff is horrible, the players are horrible and the accomplishment got nerfed in some regards anyway. No one will care if you max a toon in TTR but a lot of people cared if you did it in TTO.

I play as much as I can because school is beginning soon, and maxing toons are pointless for me, it's vice versa to what you all think it's like. I think it's an accomplishment in the game, I mean like you catch all of the fish species, gardening, or whatsoever. You finished the game, and you appreciate what you've done.

Been playing since the beggining of open Beta, played everyday for about 7-8 Hours per day, 4-5 during school. I'm 113 laff. It's a waste if it's not fun to you. For me it's entertaining due to me being obsessed with getting everything unlocked in games (I guess a completionist?) but if it's not fun, then it's pointless and a waste.

I disagree with this because for me it's not about seeing a number go up or getting what you call 'a badge of honor'. For me it's about maxing the game. You know, maxing the bosses, getting all the golf trophies, etc.. I enjoy doing that, and that's why I play the game.

This is how just about every MMO goes. It's how the devs ensure that people keep playing their game, particularly the ones that have subscription fees. Like, why does anyone want to do all those dungeons and raids in games like WoW or FFXIV when it's so repetitive and grindy? Because they want to get the top gear, which is both a status symbol that shows you worked really hard to get it, and something that makes it easier to do the hard content. Just like laff points in ToonTown. It's just one of those trends in MMO design. Of course, there is quite a bit of stuff to do in WoW and FFXIV after you hit level cap and get your cool gear, while ToonTown doesn't have quite as much content, but that's something TTR and other private servers are going to have to work on if they want people to stay interested in their game(s). Also, believe it or not, there are people out there that actually enjoy grinding. Like me, I find it relaxing :P

high laff points would mean that I could last longer in the game, I usually play solo, therefore having high laff points is good for me how does this affect your life? it developes skills, preserverence, which is a skill largely taught at schools right now... strategy, just like putting together a puzzle... which gag to use for which cog for different reasons... which gags to train, which missions to choose, which invasions to go to... it also helps with communication skills, how to work together (again which gags to use), asking ppl to help etc. and btw, I play this while doing other things, such as eating, homework, watching movies, listening music etc. regret after finishing the game? seriously. I start the game to finish it, it's a feeling of accomplishment and success not regret the longer it takes, the more effort it takes, the better it feels in the end.... gamers mentality and honestly, the game doesn't really end... play in events, kill some bots, support new players in buildings... once I finish the game, I'll be aiming to get the stars (from defeating buildings), and those stars disappear after awhile, so there... something to keep doing (and don't say that it'll be boring as "it's the same thing over and over again" the whole game pretty much follows the same concept throughout... receive a task, kill bots, hand in task, repeat) first, you complain about how the game ends (to put it short) - btw if you quit the game that means it didn't end then, you complain about how the game was so long you wasted time on it see the contradiction yet? and what if ttr creators extend the main game (missions and all)... ye gonna play it or complain that it's going to waste more time (if so, that clearly cancels out the first point)

Well it’s like beating a game, once you get 137 laff then you have beaten toontown like any other game for example super Mario odyssey once you get all of the power moons then you have beaten the game you can move on. So if you have ever 100% completed a game before the feeling is just like that if you want to come back to it sometimes sure you can but getting 137 laff Is just like 100% completing a game

There is other things you can do when you max at 137 like solos etc. if you ever thought of that like 1 laff solos, so no there isn't nothing else to do once you hit that point and you could make alts depending on how much you like the game

The Logic that you see no difference between a 137 and 113 is flawed. a 137 laff is guaranteed to have finished everything in the game, including boss battles. So when you look at a 137 you know he is a very experienced player and probably knows more about the game than you. And besides for being a better fighter in battle then you he is also most likely more knowledgeable in other aspects of the game such as fishing racing etc.

How do you even get laff from Sellbot? I'm a current Mingler, and I believe I've gotten laff on TTO, as I was a level 47 Sellbot on my main toon called Quacky, but I don't remember how.

Shooter's Universe you get a laff boost for lvl 10 20 30 40 and 50 and you get teleport access at 15
