Ian Lougher: 40 Years of TT Experience | The TT Podcast | E26.1

In the first episode with TT legend Ian Lougher, he talks to Chris Pritchard and Steve Plater about the early days of his career. The Welshman holds an incredible 136 TT starts, 103 finishes, 29 podiums and 10 wins across five decades.
Ian tells the guys why he enjoyed early morning practice sessions back in the day and explains why he never felt nervous sitting on Glencrutchery Road waiting for the tap on the shoulder.
With his dad and brother both riding non-competitively, Ian shares some of his first experiences of motorbikes, including a situation which resulted in him getting banned from the roads at the age of 13. He also explains how he discovered road racing and the Isle of Man through the Southern 100 - where he’s still the most successful ever competitor with 32 wins.
After almost 40 years of involvement with the TT, Ian shares his thoughts on the changes he’s seen in that time - some of which he favours more than others.

Great interview, and I can relate to the young teenage locker like lots of young kids back then- we all wanted to go fast on the road on your, Yamaha/ suzuki/ Honda, or in my case casal.

He's right.. It was the thing , The Norm here too. People would drink.. have a few and drive. It was just the way it was, nobody batted an eye. Im not saying they where hammered, or 3 sheets to the wind... But definitely had a good buzz on and drove.

ian beat steve in the 250,s back in 1990 ,thats saying something ,but i love how he played down the piss artistry in the early 90,s etc ,he knows ,and what a great road racer from the whales
