First, shout out to the Buddha for the walk through. True legend. Secondly, that old school Shrugged opening took me baaaacckkk. Oh my doors! And that little bumper plate dropping sound effect gave me chills. I still have that shirt. That's the lookback series were actually all waiting for, to be fair.

I have been in CF for 8 years. I have heard of Training Think Tank, of course, but I didn't know you even had a podcast until I heard about this episode watching the SEVAN podcast. So he brought me over here, SEVAN is an influencer especially with his following and they(we) go hard in the paint for him.

Max, I hear your point about missed calls in other sports but there is a huge number of high level athletes failing to adhere to the movements standards. It starts with the athlete, then the judge/coach, then CrossFit to enforce no reps. I know Travis and many other pro’s can do really good, locked out deadlifts but the culture has shifted drastically to skirting the line to the point of obvious no reps. The rules state this year that the head has to be behind the bar, which was wildly violated. Plus, the amount of soft hip and knee extension is so egregious. I love TTT and Travis does a great job of doing some of the best reps in the sport but look back at the earlier days of CrossFit and the no reps that were handed out at the games. It’s devolved to the point that the movement is clearly off compared to 10 years ago. “Good movement is easy to judge.” - Chuck Carswell

You referenced Hillers video and talked about that last Deadlift lockout. I don't know if you watched the Video or if there was some other video that lead to this misunderstanding but I don't think Hiller even mentioned that last deadlift in particular. He spent the entire video talking about Deadlift lockout, soft hips and "head in front of the bar" noreps. He's not calling Travis' last rep a norep. He's calling every single one Travis did a norep because of weak lockout. Also every single one Alexis did and every single one lots of others did (elite and non-elite people) and honestly he has a point. Of we should also consider the fact that almost everyone is doing it, so I don't view it as a personal attack on Travis or anything. It's again a crossfit problem and not an athlete problem. What would you comment on that? Would you not agree that most of those deadlifts were technically noreps?

I think people take issue with Sevan because of his politics which you guys alluded to but declined to say out loud. He is pretty open about having what I consider to be a classical liberal worldview and a healthy disregard for political correctness, all of which is coded to the right in our current culture. He possesses an audacity to ask guests questions no one else will, and an ability to make his guests feel comfortable answering. That’s a valuable skill that I don’t think is easily replaced, and CrossFit is better off for having such a person involved.
@jersey2826 ай бұрын
He is a creep. Hate how he treats female guests but I stopped watching him long ago.

I dont think he is liberal AT ALL as he is FAR FROM progressive. He has had negative things to say about minorities being included within political parties BECAUSE they were minorities. He had also made negative remarks regarding those in the LGBTQIAA community. He's also very "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" when systemically and historically it's been PROVEN that doesn't work for a group of ppl. Sevan is extremely unbearable imo

Everyone should upload a video for every workout. Believe me, Travis or other elite athletes reps are very good compared to many others. The system with "registered" judges doesn't work. Everyone is filming their workouts anyway for the social media, it's not that hard.
