Great video and instructive. Keep them coming as I relate -- I have the AD2, 2015THD and 8903B. Very much a student here (close to retirement) - I appreciate your insights and instruction.

can you do this w your HP8903B and post the 2 results , I think the HP is better than the 2015 but I decided to go w the AD2

One small comment. In thd mode the keithley only sums the voltages of the harmonics i.e. frequency bins which are an integer multiple of the fundamental frequency so for 1Khz the bins summed would be 2Khz, 3khz, 4khz etc. Every bin which is not an integer multiple is ignored in this mode since it is considered only noise. In thd+n mode ALL bins are considered. It is also possible to access just the noise component of the thd+n measurement but this is only accessible from GPIB unfortunately not accessible from the front panel. Unfortunately the width of a bin is dependant upon the fundamental frequency and is not controllable from the front panel or from gpib. It is also not possible to ask the keithley what the bin width is. The keithley also has low and high pass filters but they are only accessible from gpib either. it is possible to set the number of harmonics to be considered however the keithley will not allow a bin to go above ~50Khz or bellow ~20hz The in built signal generator on the keithley also can not go above 20Khz or bellow 20hz.

if this is wavetek 164 , is not low distortion generation (thd 0,5%)

Interesting video thanks. However, I think you'll find you were reading off the wrong scale at 8:43. The blue inner scale on the multiplier is the volts scale, and when you're reading distortion, you should be using the outer (black) scale. So your reading was actually 0.06% distortion approx. Also, you can use the auto mode switch on this unit to get the lowest possible reading.

Hello, really enjoyed this video; I used to (and may still have) the HP334 and a AD-2 as you do. You would think that the AD2-unit would not be that good, given it is synthesized and therefore should be noisier. Also must say, that I appreciate the level of detail that your videos go into. Would like to ask: Are you a Ham (I am [age-62] and used to work in the defense industry) and/or do you have an email or some form of communications path; I have a few questions (not specific to any one video) that I would like your feedback on? Thanks Again!
