Every time I look at these electronic Swiss Army Knives they just get better. Their is an evolution in instrumentation on the way. Paying over and over for PSUs, CPUs, memory, displays, etc., is going to be a thing of the past. I watched TEK go into the dirt because they missed the last evolution. I wonder why all these top rank companies worked on the AD 2?

I knew it, they increased the price probably for high demand during the pandemic. Hope they lower it soon...

I have an AD1. Should I upgrade to AD2?

God video (: have you tested the analog discovery function generator? (: I do get some noisy signal when I use the 10x setting on the probe with the BNC board and I don't know why

Just getting time to play with the Analog Discovery I purchased to support my edX embedded electronics class. Had no idea that it could go to 20MHz +

I'm pretty sure the updated specs are marketing wank only, looking at the schematics it is exactly the same as the original Analog Discovery. Only some improved power supply features have been added to version 2. That said however, it still packs an impressive amount of features in a very small package and still very affordable.

+TheStuffMade Your conclusions based on the schematics are quite consistent with my measurements on the original Analog Discovery. Depending on how you define bandwidth and measure it, the original AD might well have 30+ Mhz bandwidth with the adapter board. Thank you for your comment and interest. I also agree that the AD is a great value.

TheStuffMade - Have you ever routed an RF trace? The same schematic means nothing if they respun the FPGA and the board. Do you know what they did?

tomtektest - The problem with your conclusion is that the PC side software is completely new now. The original may have been gimped by software when it came out. Did you notice the ferrite?

Great video. I need to spend less but I might break down and get an analogue discovery. A 1 or a 2 though. Hmmm not sure.
