The girls had more of a natural look back then. I liked Paraguay and Sweden but neither made semis, so I went w/ Spain, USA or Trinidad that night; we were shocked when Miss Trinidad won, the first black MU, she was the talk of the high school I went to the following Monday, everyone agreeing she deserved the crown.

Antes el concurso era mágico, se resaltaba la cultura del pais anfitrión, no como ahora que son tan aburridos, jamaz se comoaran los escenarios variados de antes con las porquerias de ahora, es todo monitores y nada mas! Holland and Germany were really beautiful, but cold / no charisma. Venezuela was already showing strength sending well prepared candidates and start in 1979 the long winning tradition in MU. T&Tobago was the best and deserved it. It was nice seeing how the other contestants approved her winning, especially the black girls seeing themselves represented. Great.
