A couple observations 1. you have a breadth of capabilities that mere mortals usually don't have 2. you must have local inspectors, etc. who are very tolerant of DIY (you're clearly not the average DIY guy) but they are sometimes not willing to accept perfect DIY vs the work of a trades person. 3. you and your family have immense patience. It's probably good that your kids are very young. On the other hand, if they were older they could learn a ton from you in terms of skills and just a sense of self confidence that you can to do anything if you set your mind to it. 4. I'm a lot like you. Very cross functional. Can do multiple trades. Prefer to work alone. Often felt if I did it I knew it would be done right and sometimes better than the trades folks (who to be honest, have a hard time finding qualified folks these days). But I sometimes wonder if it set a good example for my kids that I "never needed help" from other folks. IF you had had other folks other than a your dad and one or two other friends to help, would you have used them? All that said, love the series. Kudos!

Beautiful job!!! I had a Delta unit & value installed today, & although the plumber attached the shower head part to a 2x4, he didn't the other pieces. He did shim them, though, to they're pretty solid. Not like yours, though! And I love your copper -- mine is all pex. I absolutely hate the Delta Victorian unit I bought. It keeps running for a bit when I turn off the water. My 2-handle faucets never did this! I hope it's not a trait of the single-handle faucets. It was on the last one I owned. I'm going to pay to have it replaced with this one, I think. Hate to waste the money, but I hate the faucet.

Excellent video in both description and camera work. I'm installing one in my bathroom with a fiberglass shower surround exactly like the one in the video. I noticed on the black plastic ring it says finished wall at this surface. What about the piece of plastic that covers that and access to the screws? Is that just for protection?

I have a question. I have a similar model but it has the smooth black piece for thicker wall as and there is no threads. I’m stuck I don’t know what to do. It’s my last step. The plumber installed the thick wall 2 3/4 max black plastic smooth piece. My instructions have me lost as there are not many words. Help a mom out please!

Was it the knock out piece? My plumber put that over the top and it took me forever to notice it

Nice, looking good. Couple of suggestions. You can also use brass nipples of various lengths when getting distance from drop ear to spout if you dont have one of those fancy spouts. Also just use a pipe wrench when tightening up that copper stub, less work than wandering around to the other side and trying to get a pair of pliers up behind the blocking. Since the copper pipe is hidden in the spout no need to worry about scuffing up the copper a bit with wrench marks. Also you need a right angle impact, easier than trying to toe screw those blocks in tight spaces.

What do you do with a p or s trap on the first floor like on a shower stall., Do i bury the s trap in the concrete ??? I'm a sub, Thanks i love the videos, they are so much help, this is definatley my favorite channel on youtube. I cannot wait to se what you use for the slide bottom. I am building a pole house in the spring, here in south dakota. I also want a slide but from upper living quarters to my shop side, I was thinking 26" wide 12' long PVC Corrugated Roof Panel or plywood with a 24" wide continous roll of tin attached. Thank you so much

I did not follow what you said in the beginning of your video. You have a diverting valve to direct water to either the shower head or the tub and it doesn't matter if you used PEX or copper. You could also use "Uponor Pex" if you aren't happy with small inside diameter of regular Pex.
@plumbbuild65174 жыл бұрын
G George , If you noticed in the video there was no diverter valve only the mixing valve ,therefore you need to use copper for the tub spout ,if you use PEX even if its uponor water will come out the shower head if you're trying to use just the tub spout, the inside diameter of PEX is smaller than copper, every mixing valve I've ever used says not to use PEX for tub spout or shower riser , right on the box.

This channel seems to focus a lot on the very technical part of the overall house construction such as the mechanical, plumbing, ventilation and water/heating systems. While all those aspects do have immense contribution towards the overall building of the home, the civil engineering aspects provides more satisfying viewing pleasure to most of the audiences (just my personal view). Hence, I would suggest the channel to re-focus your efforts on macro contents that would excite the majority of the general viewers. All these details technical contents should be given less airtimes than the macro construction contents in order to garner the enjoyment of watching the outcomes of your construction projects. Anyway, again it is just my personal opinion, and you retain the absolute rights over what u wish to share in you own youtube channel...
