This is my favorite Louis Armstrong tune. When my daughters were infants, a couple decades ago, I'd put a Louis Armstrong Hot Fives and Hot Sevens CD on and dance with my children in my arms to Armstrong's hot-jazz recordings of "Beau Koo Jack," "Mahogany Hall Stomp," and "St. Louis Blues." I'm thrilled that America's finest traditional-jazz ensemble, Tuba Skinny, now has added "Beau Koo Jack" to its repertoire.
Tuba Skinny's lineup for this performance at the Temple Beth Israel:
Shaye Cohn, cornet
Erika Lewis, bass drum & vocals
Craig Flory, clarinet
Barnabas Jones, trombone
Todd Burdick, tuba
Max Bien-Kahn, guitar
Greg Sherman, guitar & vocals
Robin Rapuzzi, washboard
Recorded on my iPhone XR with a Shure MV88 microphone and MOTIV Video app.
