Thank you so much dear James 😊 i love this special tune so much. A great masterpiece by Shaye. I am happy that you have still other videos from this marvelous set at dba in your Vault. It seems it was a great evening. The solo by Todd on Sousa sounds so wonderful. Much thanks and I wish you a wonderful weekend. Nice greetings from Germany Dave 👋

Thank you, James. For those who enjoy such challenges, what is the meaning of the hand signal Shaye gives at 01:41?
@JamesSterling Жыл бұрын
I know but won't spoil it for others. However, did you notice that at 00:54 Shaye signals for Barnabus to play but he is not ready and she quickly has to nod to Craig who seamlessly picks it up.

@@JamesSterling Yes; and there's also the 'easy' one at 02:20 - the hand-on-head - which it seems none of them needed: they have played this tune often enough.

The sign that Shaye is making reminds me that I became a Cadbury's C-Cub sometime around 1953.
@PopsCoffee Жыл бұрын
@@axeleast8632 I am convinced her intention was partially to evoke that very memory. Do you still have your badge?
@axeleast8632 Жыл бұрын
@@PopsCoffee If I could find my C-Cub badge I'd probably find my "North British Sportsman's Club' badge as well. In Scotland 'The North British Rubber Company' was a rival to Dunlop for plimsolls and Wellington boots. I became a member of the Sportsman's Club by sending in my application form and enclosing the label from my new wellies.

James, thank you as always for wonderful recording. I did want to ask question about this but I don't know whether the issue is me not having heard band for some time and not having and not having seen any posts from you in several months. That could just be the algorithm screwing around with me. But the reason for this comment is for some reason this sounds very thin to me. I'm used to the band sounding very rich and contrapuntal and I'm not hearing that in this recording and I'm wondering what's going on. Is it just me?
@JamesSterling Жыл бұрын
The recording conditions and the equipment are the same as all of my other recordings from that same date at the d.b.a., and I have posted about 20 from this performance. If it sounds different from those I don't know why. As to not having seen my posts, that is strange because I have been averaging about two posts a week since French Quarter Festival in April. If you subscribe to my channel and click on the bell icon to be notified you will be alerted every time I post a video.

@@JamesSterling fair amount of chatter going on. What's wrong with those people!?
@JamesSterling Жыл бұрын
@@paulgibby6932 It's a bar in New Orleans. The crowd is drinking and having a good time. A necessary evil. It pays the band so that they can continue to play for the rest of us. Like you I would prefer to hear them in a concert hall but the bars keep the band employed.
