Lyrics: Just like two drops of water on a foggy window pane Our lives joined together and got lost in the rain Just like two drops of water that tasted just like tears I swallowed my pride as I wasted my years If I had only known what a storm life could be I would have begged you darling to stay away from me Just like two drops of water that fell from the skies I swam in your sweetness and I drowned in your lies Just like two drops of water on a foggy window pane Our lives joined together and got lost in the rain Just like two drops of water that tasted just like tears I swallowed my pride as I wasted my years If I had only known what a storm life could be I would have begged you darling to stay away from me Just like two drops of water that fell from the skies I swam in your sweetness and I drowned in your lies

Many thanks, James. 'Just Like Two Drops of Water' is a 32-bar a-a-b-a song, composed in 1951 by Joe Greene. It's played here in the key of F. A joy as usual to see how well Shaye pilots the whole performance with minimal instructions and full confidence in her colleagues: the slight lean towards Barnabus at 01:55, telling him to take the lead from the Middle Eight, the signal to Craig at 02:13, inviting him to join her in 'trading fours', the lean at 02:43 to tell him to switch to 'trading twos' in the Middle Eight. She must have given the 'bridge' signal off-camera, because at the end of Todd's 16-bar solo, the band picks the tune up from the Bridge rather than going back to the beginning and we then see the little sway to Barnabus and Craig at 04:39 to tell them to join her in a front-line two-bar break (bars 23 and 24).

@@jazzingrandad Thanks, Andy. I've just recently lost my wife, after 62 years of marriage. It's a struggle to keep going. You know only too well how it feels, I'm sure.

Thank you so much, James, for this year's new videos. Bringing Molly in as a replacement was probably the best choice they could have made. She's incredible

Hello James. Much thanks for a new video of this new tune. Love it. It reminds me a a little bit on the one song Tuba Skinny recorded with Maria Muldaur a couple of years ago. I love the duet between Shaye and Craig. So marvelous. Greg as always on point and their guest Molly did a great solo on the banjo. 🪕 Best wishes to you Dave from Berlin Germany.
