Watching Shaye direct the others with hand and head gestures confirms what I've felt about the band: it is indeed a benevolent dictatorship run by Ms. Cohn where everyone gets a chance to participate in the party. I cannot get enough of Tuba Skinny!

@Keith Clark Period-style clothes would be fine if Tuba Skinny were playing in a pizza parlor, opening a new pharmacy, performing in a casino or supporting jugglers in a circus. But suspenders and stripes show that a musician isn't serious or very skilled. My first reply had to do with taste. At its worst, period-style performance would be Al Jolson in black-face singing 'Mammy." But the second issue would be: What period? Tuba Skinny plays a huge variety of styles, including jug band, ragtime, early/middle/late trad, a variety of blues styles, R&B from New Orleans and elsewhere, swing, some country and gospel, originals and so on over more than half a century. What period style would the band wear to perform a Blind Blake or Louis Armstrong song? If you spend time imagining Tuba Skinny in some sort of period dress, you quickly realize that the concept is not only unpalatable, it is incoherent. The next step is to realize that whatever a band wears on stage is, in fact, a period style, and it would be fun to pursue this idea.
