Our province Pangasinan(Caboloan) was only influenced by Chinese because of a Pirate who seek a place to hide as he is being hunted by Chinese forces. He became friends with the native tribe of Caboloan, he is Limahong. He then was force to leave the province because the Spanish Musketeers hunt them. Pangasinan has its own native dialect and it's not even influenced by Chinese as it was already exist long before the Chinese pirate arrived.

It is not my obligation to make you believe, we know our roots.
@iangang95352 ай бұрын
@@HuwagSalangin this is also what i learned in high school. Limahong was a pirate leader, who made caboloan one of his bases of operations. He just happened to be an ethnic Chinese. That's why I'm even more confused that caboloan is mentioned here as part of Ming's area of influence. It's also not clear if that influence is political or cultural. If it's political, that can be challenging to prove due to Limahong being a pirate. If it's cultural only, that would make more sense considering that most Filipinos with Chinese ancestry can trace their lines back to Fujian province in China.
@HuwagSalangin2 ай бұрын
@@iangang9535 Caboloan was already a established town as it was a known trade route during the Ming dynasty where Limahong was a fugitive pirate. Caboloan is a name derived from bamboo specie called Bolo, a lightweight and thin bamboo commonly used for cooking and kubo wall, commonly known these days as Boho(just like how Aeta cook their meals). Pangasinense language is derrived from Malayo-Polynesian languages, it is evident on how we count on our dialect(sakey, duwa, talo, apat) not even a pinch or our local dialect is derrived from Chinese, our eyes are not Chingky, we are not yellow-white skinned, we are naturally tanned just like Ilocanos. According to history which even proved by my grandparents, Ilocanos once envy the Pangasinense because we are wealthier due to the center trades, they choose to live near Caboloan for livelihood that is why nowadays the central pangasinan composed of native speakers and the towns around it are Ilocano speakers. My grandparents once told us that as far as they can recall, their grandparents vows at the sun during sunrise and sunset because they worship the sun 😂 Funny it may seem, but it's true.

As a Filipino myself, I would agree with a lot of the information here except the Marcos section. 1) economy going down was mainly due to the middle east war which caused a lot of country's economies going down. The US increased interest rate which screwed over our loans. 2) I could say with full confidence Jabidah Massacre was fake. No names of the victims and no families of the supposed victims came out to support this claim even after 1986 when Marcos hating became popular. 3) no, there was no evidence whatsoever that Corazon Aquino won that election. There were 2 ballot counting organizations at that time. The official, COMELEC, counted the ballots at 100% and declared Marcos the clear winner by a huge margin. The other, NAMFREL counted the ballots at 69% and said Cory was slightly in the lead. 100% vs 69%. 100% is more reliable. There were people who came out that said they couldn't take the cheating going on but there was no specifics or further evidence to support their claims. They could very well be paid actors. 4) Ninoy's assassins are not known until now. Both his wife and his son became presidents and neither bothered to investigate who really the assassin was.

@@ekiboiii where did I get my resources?.. research, logic and critical thinking. Being able to distinguish true information from disinformation. See this is my problem with the anti Marcoses. You think Filipinos are not capable of objective thought and that we have to listen to someone else to form an opinion. I stress Filipinos because I don't see you do that to foreigners. It's no wonder you lost the election in a landslide. Your side is lying to our faces (or spreading wrong information if it's unintentional) and we can see right through you. Also, another thing I notice is that you seem to not know the difference between facts and opinions? Facts, we gather from different sources. We use them to form our personal, educated opinions.

Appreciated your take on Philippine history especially during the pre-colonial eras and Spanish eras. You kinda left out the presidencies of Gloria Arroyo and Benigno Aquino III and not much was discussed about Pres. Garcia’s term. Nevertheless, it was a really good take on Philippine history and would be helpful to students and history enthusiasts. 😀

Do a feature about the Maharlika kingdom of the Philippines, which extended to all of Micronesia, Polynesia, and Marianas all the way to Hawaii and possibly Samoa. Not much is spoken about this time period, but they were the first people to believe in one God while the rest of the world worshipped multiple God's. Calling their God Abba. I'm looking forward to what you can uncover. Thank you.

Hate to admit it, but there would be no sense of Filipino nationhood if it weren't for the intense colonization and Christianization by the Spaniards (we Filipinos call them "Kastila"). Our country was even named after the Spanish King Felipe II.

i beg to disagree. Thailand was never colonized and yet they became a civilized country just like the rest of the world (it's just a matter of time). it terms of nationhood, i wouldn't mind if luzon, visayas and mindanao we're not united and all became an independent country. who are we to stop that? atleast our history by then would be clean of horrible stories of colonization and humiliation.

My Filipina wife's maternal grandfather was half Japanese, but never knew his Japanese father. He was brought up Filipino in Mindanao and fought as a Filipino guerilla fighter against the Japanese in Northern Mindanao. In 1980, my wife was 15 years old and a First Lieutenant in the MNLF (Moro National Liberation Front) fighting against the Marcos Government forces. Luckily, she survived that difficult time. I'm Aussie, and had an easy life really. I applaud the Filipino spirit which is still being shown today. Laban lang! Abante Pilipinas!

Ferdinand Marcos Sr. Is the best philippine president ever. You didn't mention here that the Marcos Sr term is the philippine golden age. Infrastructures built, schools, hospitals, roads, bridges etc. In his term Phils is the best in agriculture at that time. Our military is strong as well. Marcos is not a dictator, he declared martial law to counteract communism who's bringing chaos to the country. If he is dictator he would have told his military to kill the people protesting against him. In his time there are more pro Marcos than against. The provinces are pro Marcos only in manila rallied against him. When Aquino succeeded him the philippines become very poor. The housewife who become president. Haha. It's a big mistake of those protested against Marcos. Until today most Filipinos love the marcoses. Thanks to our president Marcos Sr. We got back up golds that helps our economy until today. Our genius, kind and humble president ever we thank him.
