water allergy is a thing! it's called aquagenic urticaria, where if water touches the skin it'll cause hives and itching burning etc, luckily it's really quite rare

seconding this comment- as someone with aquagenic urticaria! It very much is a thing B). It is a rare allergy, but I’m convinced it’s not as rare as people think it is, as it’s incredibly under researched. For me personally it’s just an annoyance (it would be worse if I wasn’t medicated for allergies in general), but I’ve heard of cases where the hives they get are near welts

Yes! I have a different urticaria- cold urticaria- which as the name implies is hives caused by cold sensations! All urticaria conditions are pretty rare, but it’s very interesting that they even exist.

I’m only a minute into a video but I saw this comment and it reminded me of the hives I used to get from being out in the sun. My mom used to say I was allergic to the sun. I’d get hives on my forehead and chest so bad that I’d have to wear t-shirts and a visor to parks, camp, and the beach. I grew out of it (if that’s possible? I don’t get hives from the sun anymore, that’s all I know!) but before I did, it got worse and I would get hives on my forearms too!

@@oliverse_crazy930 aquagenic urticaria is only skin based! you can drink water just fine with it B). I have heard of some people who claim to be allergic to water and be unable to drink it- but my personal hypothesis is these people are lying OR they’re getting the water on their lips + outside of their mouth and reacting to that, not actually the water being drunk. As with anything medical, I always recommend bringing it up to your doctor if it’s affecting your life. You deserve to live life pain free :)

likely those people are allergic to something in that water- not the water itself. Aquagenic urticaria is the allergy to water in all forms, but only through skin contact. I have it and sometimes break out into hives when I sweat even! The rain, too! I still shower just fine though because I’m well medicated, but unmedicated I Am breaking out into hives
