Unbelievable how Miami Vice only lasted 5 short seasons, in complete contrast to the cheap, toxic, cancerous reality TV shows like SURVIVOR and BIG BROTHER (I'm looking at you CBS) that have infested television for the last 20 consecutive years.

@OVI-Wan Kenobi you are absolutely correct in your observation that current day television is festered with crap that continues to linger even after 20 years. Unfortunately, at least some of the blame has to be placed on the people who continue to watch this garbage year after year with apparently no understanding or expectation that television has the potential to provide high quality storytelling.

I agree with you. But you are literally talking about shows in 2 very different eras. In the 80's there was no internet, only one phone land line, one tv and maybe a VCR to record a show. Plus these shows are incredibly expensive to make vs 'Reality TV'. So without huge ratings shows like Miami Vice don't last long. To get 5 seasons was a big deal back then. Lord knows I despise reality tv, but please try and be a bit more reasonable.

Throughout the episode, the shakuhachi opening refrain of "Sledgehammer" is blended into Jan Hammer's music at appropriate moments. This is not the first time Hammer has mimicked one of the popular songs used in an episode like this -- he did the same in "No Exit", in which some of his score emulates Phil Collins' "I Don't Care Anymore". Tim Truman would likewise copy Eric Clapton's "She's Waiting" in "The Lost Madonna".

I imagine so ... 35mm by the looks of it. Fairly common as not only was the quality substantially better than the standard definition video of the day but it could be shown in different countries with different TV standards without going through a standards converter which tends to make the pictures even softer ...
