Tubby is the best at what he does but there have been quite a few other giants just as highly rated. Tubby has a great tenor tone and swinging style that todays players cant match and incredible lines ..when the swing is takin out like in a lot of jazz today it lacks a quality that draws us towards jazz and gives us certain kind of joy ,thats a big reason why i love Tubby as he has those qualities which is missing today which is a real shame.others like Dexter Gordon ,sonny stitt, zoot sims Coltrane,Rollins all had those qualities also and swang like hell

No he's great..but the best? ..check out Joel Frahm ...Eric Alexander ..Chris Potter..of the crop of modern players
