Hey Rob, just wanted to say thanks for all your contributions to the collective amp knowledge on the internet. I'm learning to build amps and often find myself on your site or on a forum archive reading your comments. It's been a big help. Thanks.

This is absolutely great information. I just stumbled across your website. You have such an amazing way of describing the components of amps. I'm new to this stuff, and while I don't plan on working on my tube amps, I do still want to understand

Thank you Rob for posting this vid. I knew all these rules before I started building amps, but all the hits I took were due to complacency.

Great to hear safety information regarding guitar amplifiers (or general electronics). Thanks!

That video came recommended to me this morning. That is so strange it’s like KZbin was watching me get zapped yesterday night on my amp LOL It had been disconnected 24h from the power source so I figured that would be fine. Nope, those caps still had some zing to give as soon as I touched the tube socket to clean it. Missing hair on my arm where it touched the chassis LoL All that to say I vouch for everything you just said in this video . Thank you.

Very good video and webpage that will save lives. Thanks for sharing and also for highlighting the mistakes at the end of the Uncle Doug death cap video. 2:25 Virtually every GFCI works by sensing the difference in current between the line and neutral, not the "safety ground".

Thanks a lot, Rob, for this vid as well as all the information on your website! I found out after completing some Tweeds and a JTM that my knowledge about tube circuits rose in the same way as my complacency. It’s good to be aware of that. There are many parallels in driving a plane. You have to stay anal about safety measurements all the time or you will be buried by your mistakes. If I’m looking scared my wife knows I will start up a new amp. She will check in intervalls for life signs (..wondering how long that will last ;-))

A GFCI doesn’t sense current in the equipment grounding electrode! It senses the imbalance of current between the hot leg and neutral conductor. That’s how it operates
@robrobinette10 ай бұрын
Yep, that is an indirect way of sensing ground current.
