Same happened to me on my WA-47 during a session. Tube maybe had 5-7 total hours on it. That wind noise and crackling sound was similar even after warming. The noise sounds a little like the way a sea shell sounds over the ear. Had to not use the mic on the session. Next day no wind noise but crackling sound. Contacted Warm and they sold me a new tube (different make than original) to swap out … it works better now but I’m still spooked that this might happen again.

yeah, it freaked me out too. I'm hoping for the best though now! How long have you had yours?

Hiye @@CatoNoise , I believe I bought it in 2018 - so just about 4 years old but most of that time (for the mic) was spent horizontally in the locker. After a horrific session attempting to use this I eventually recorded a sample of "silence" and sent the .WAV to WA. The noise was much lower when I tried to demonstrate the noise to WA. When I was trying to actually use it in a session I could barely hear the source - it was like 80-85% noise. It seemed to have somewhat healed itself by the time that I tried to demonstrate to WA.

@@tmartin9024 weird! And the solution was just to swap out the tube?

I’m lucky, I haven’t experienced that type of failure. I even have three AKG c28b with 12AY7 tubes. I do have NOS spares.

I just bought a new replacement tube for my Advanced Audio CM47 mic because I was hearing a similar whooshing sound. Watching this video and hearing the same basic symptom confirms my suspicion that it is the tube that is failing. That makes me feel so much better. I'm going to swap it out tomorrow but I already feel confident that it will fix the problem after watching this video. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us! 😀

I had a similar noise, I thought it was of broken lamp or a capsule. But the noise problem was due to the humidity in my studio. More than 75%. I just put the microphone in a dry and warm room and the noise disappeared after 2-3 days.

That's interesting! I'm in San Diego inland a little bit, so there's definitely not much humidity here.

That's what you get when you use Warm Audio microphones! Bad construction (look at the capacitors stacked on top of each other!) and mediocre quality. This would not happen so quickly with a Neumann.
