Angel is a tube station on the Northern line.
The station opened on November 17, 1901. It was rebuilt in 1992.

The southbound platform used to be the only tunnel in the station, and the platforms were just the one very narrow platform. That’s why the platform is so wide nowadays.

I remember the "changeover weekend." Having built the new entrance and new northbound platform, what remained was to link them up. The idea was to close the northbound altogether, divert through trains via the Charing Cross branch, non-stop southbound trains until further notice, and reopen on the Monday with the new northbound platform open. They could then build the passageways through to the southbound, and fill in the old northbound track, but delays in commissioning the new escalators resulted in the entire station being closed for a few weeks. Eventually it did open with the southbound side still looking like a building site, but it wasn't long before southbound trains started calling again.
