The W suffix is the ruggedized military version. The four number types are industrial equivalents selected for things like ultra low noise. The European designation for this tube- ECC83, E=6.3v filament; C= triode with the double C meaning twin triode.

Buying a Laney LV300t twin 100w Solid state amp that has a preamp with this ecc83 tube in. Thanks for the info

Great content, Gary. Helpful, crystal clear and concise. So I may change the 6N2P on my amp for a 12AX7WA without having to have tube sockets changed. Is my understanding correct? Cheers from Brazil.

No the tubes aren't direct swap, there are two pins that have to be changed on the tube socket to convert it to 6N2p

@Bruno Lima, do you have a Meteoro MGV30 or MGV7 amp?

@@xxxgabaxxx Hi, mate. Used to have a MGV7. Nice amp. A speaker swap may make it sound much better (but that is true for most amps once speakers are somewhat of a very personal choice). But the MGV7 doesn't have a 6N2P!

@@xxxgabaxxx Rapaz, por coincidência, eu tenho dois falantes da Eld - Red Back e Lizard (Estou em vias de comprar o terceiro). Gosto muito dos dois. O Marcelo é extremamente atencioso. Em relação às válvulas, seria necessário checar o data sheet, mas creio que o falante vai fazer mais diferença do que troca de válvulas, a não ser que as válvulas estejam com problema. O meu tinha as 12ax7.

very nice video ! i have some 12ax7 to 6N2P tube pins adapter , can i put 6N2P in the preamp of my mesa boogie guitar amp ? is it safe ?

the sockets would have to be re-wired to do that, so unless you want to use them forever, better not to
