A prim example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. I can't say I ever cared much for the either the TS or the HM-2 on their own, not even stacked. But this combined circuit goes from brutish density to melodic sweetness with ease. Most importantly, it appears to be cat approved. Nice one.

Richard is an absolute legend of a pedal builder! I have an hm808 and a merciless drive on the way and I can't wait to add them to the collection.

Oh, the sweet spots on that thing - I'd love to just sit and dial it in. (Cat photobombs are always just fine - we all love the studio cats of YT!) Hey, wow, this thing sounds better than most pushing dirt into a clean amp.

Not a lot of creators demonstrate a boost/distortion into an already overdriven amp. Fewer do it properly. And even Fewer can actually play worth a crap. Thank God for people like Leon 👍

Another great video! Great to see you showing a different side of the pedal while using a clean setting on the amp! For as many distortion/overdrive that are out there, this could be a full time job!!! But you may have to pay your cat for his input....they don't come cheap!

yees, embrace the grind 🎸some really cool tones out of that box , it's a marriage i wouldn't have thought of , but the easy controls and girthy/grindy goodness for want of better words, even on other style tones, awesome i think i need a shower after the sheer filthy sauce from 2:40 to 3:40 😄

This seems like a really versatile pedal. I always loved the work of producer Fredrik Nordstrom and the Swedish Gothenburg Sound of the 90s and early 00s. I was kind of disappointed when I found out that they got most of those tones with just an HM2 through a clean amp, because it sounds like it would be a really complex amp or preamp with lots of gain stages (I'm thinking Rivera and similar boutique high gain amps). That said, in plugins, I usually use a Tube Screamer through a JCM800 but scoop the low mids for a bit of a chunkier sound. In terms of real gear, picking *which* Tube Screamer is a challenge. You have all the Ibanez versions, then the Maxon versions, and then the imitators. Then you have all the cork sniffing about new versions vs. old versions vs. NOS and so on. This pedal would seem to simplify all those choices down a bit. Looking in the background here. Just curious. Leon, mate, exactly how many guitars do you have, sir? :) Much respect for all those ADA MP-1s and 2s back there as well.

What are your thoughts on using the pro co rat as an alternative to the hm2 even the waza? I think it’s tighter and has more low end and low mid growl and still has clarity for chords and faster riffing

In every distortion/overdrive review of yours that I've seen your initial tone is already distorted from the amp. IMHO, hearing what pedal does stacked onto your existing distortion gives little insight into how pedal would sound into clean amp. In other words, I came here excited to hear what this pedal sounded like, but as soon as I heard your initial tone I realized nothing you played would necessarily apply well to my situation. Perhaps many/most of your viewers are metal heads to the point they never use a clean tone, but I imagine there are many viewers who would appreciate hearing what these pedals can do starting from clean.

@@LeonTodd Oops, I apologize. Do you actually do a clean demo in most of your dist/OD vids?
@LeonTodd2 ай бұрын
@@joeystalloney5109 I try too. Stuff like this is often designed for "chug" guys who want to boost heavy amps, but they also work great with clean amps. Check out my video with the Airis electric dragon for example
