I just discovered Tubi a few weeks ago. You're right about the content; a massive library of horror and the volume of commercial breaks are very tolerable. I also stand firm in believing that the Evil Dead 2013 remake is not bad. The serious tone, lack of campiness and gruesome practical effects makes a movie that aligns well to the subject matter, even if the storyline is off the rails by the end. If you're reading this and have not yet seen Doctor Sleep, stop what you're doing and see this movie!

I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to horror, I especially like ones with a supernatural element. I agree. I liked it a lot, but I've talked to people who hated it. I think some of the hate was just because it's a remake of a beloved movie, not so much about the actual quality of the film. I remember the same thing happening with Zack Snyder's remake of "Dawn of the Dead," which was also really good. It was also nice to see "Brightburn" included on this list. It doesn't get enough recognition for being an original and interesting take on the Superman mythology.

@@harrybarnes9080 I feel the same as you. There are some really great remakes/reboots out there. The original "Dawn of the Dead" was my favorite movie for a long time and I liked the remake a bunch. Stuff like the new "Blair Witch" or "The Thing" were also pretty good, even though they were technically a sequel and a prequel. I guess to some people a remake is like someone trying to rewrite the Bible or something. The original movie (or song or whatever) means so much to some people that messing with it in any way is wrong to them, sometimes to the point that they won't give it a chance. And I think some other people jump on the train of shit talk just because it's what you're "supposed to do" to seem like a movie snob, like you can't enjoy a remake and still be cool.

Never heard of Tubi until I saw it on your channel, Darren, and it is BY FAR my favorite streaming service. Best part of Doctor Sleep for me, by the way, is that it introduced me to Rebecca Ferguson. What an amazingly gorgeous woman, who has some great acting chops as well! Brightburn was not what I expected (in a great way). I love King, and 1408 is a flat-out classic (one of the best page to screen adaptations of King's). I actually love the Evil Dead remake, it's so brutal and so sad. I love the idea of the cabin being a place for Mia to break her drug addiction and how it plays into the rest not believing her about the horrors that the Necronomicon has unleashed. The practical effects were outstanding and the score was also bone-chilling, and the ENDING was absolute insanity in all the right ways. Sure, it's not Sam Raimi's film, but Fede Álvarez doesn't try to be Sam Raimi and it works amazingly well

Great List! Of the older films I either own copies or saw them in the theatre when they were first released. A couple of notes on the films listed that you may have missed: In Nightbreed the villain is played by famed horror director David Cronenburg, whose performance as the psychiatrist is definitely the stand out of the film. There are two cuts of "Return of the Living Dead". In the original version, when the jock zombie is chasing his girlfriend through the church, she escapes into the attic, the zombie looks up her very short skirt and says " I can smell your ... Braaaains". "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" truly is one of the all time greats. I saw it in the theatre with a group of friends and we all cheered when the annoying kid in the wheelchair gets it. But, have you seen "Texas Chainsaw Massacre II"? Also directed by Tobe Hooper, it stars Dennis Hopper as a wacked out sheriff searching for his missing daughter. This leads to an encounter with the Leatherface Clan and we literally "Meat" the family. Dad travels the country entering BBQ contest because , after all ..."It's the Meat". Hilarious at times, gory and horrifying at others, could not take my eyes off it. A must see.

I agree that tubi is awesome! I have been watching it for about 6 months now, and I still have plenty to watch that I have not seen yet. And I have been bingeing it, day and night, for most of the 6 months. If your injured, or have a disability, and you are just sitting around anyway, I highly recommend it. I have a giant collection of dvds, and vhs, that I have acquired over many years as a trucker, so I have watched movies like Evil Dead, and most of the old favorites, over and over. I own most all of them due to buying movies from thrift shops by the box full, for just a few dollars. But tubi has so much that even I haven't seen a lot of them. I recommend watching some of the old Hammer horror movies from the 60s, and 70s. Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing star in a lot of them and they are great, well-done movies. I have seen quite a few Hammer horror movies on tubi, so I know they are there. If you could please do a review of the old Hammer movies, and the other ones like them, on tubi, I would greatly appreciate it. Folks really dont know what they are missing. Some other movie companies like Hammer are Amicus, and American International. Also, some directed by Roger Corman are very good also. I am really interested in those older films now. Please review them. Thanks.

Once again, I start watching one of your lists and I only make it a few entries in before you hit on one that's just a Yahtzee! I discovered Eden Lake back when it just came out, it's one of my favorite genres. That sort of almost home invasion stalking type horror movie, where the evil is something that is easily believed. It doesn't require much suspension of disbelief to buy into a scenario like this whereas it's hard to swallow the ghosts and the demons and the monsters and the possessions Etc in most traditional horror movies. And since watching Eden Lake shortly after it was released, I've noticed it show up on lists constantly! I watch a lot of these types of lists and read a lot as well, top 10 this, top 20 that, you know stuff like you're doing right here. Eden Lake is a very popular choice for these lists yet Eden Lake is rarely on Netflix Etc. Nine times out of 10 when I do a search, the only way that I can watch it is if I pay. So I can't thank you enough, once again one of your lists has great functionality for your audience.

I agree with the other comments; Evil Dead remake was amazing! Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell both had a hand in it as well. Scared my 20 h/o daughter so bad that she broke the couch trying to jump over it to get away.

great video! I've seen them all . Cube blew my mind back in the 90s, a genius classic. 30 Days of Night scared the hell out of me, the Vampires are ferocious, creepy. Huston does a wonderful job as their leader. It is my favourite vampire movie that I rewatch from time to time. The ONLY Rob Zombie that I liked was Devil's Rejects. Midnight Meat Train is a really good movie, it was a great surprise. I found Brightburn pretty unique, good one, great cast. Train To Busan don't need no introduction anymore I think, It's one of the greatest horror zombie movies out there. A wild ride! I love Death Proof , Kurt Russel is a real crazy sob, it is sick, gory, some epic scenes, fantastic cast. I love to rewatch 1408, Cusack is so good in it ( as always). I liked a lot The Blanko Experiment. Doctor sleep is a really good Stephen King's movie.

yes, it is! but your list is like a whos who of already known movies..its fun to dig through tubi and find gems..just off the top of my head i recommend Housebound (the first horror comedy i actually liked), the honeymoon ( awesome body horror), shrooms, they have some good horror mockumentaries (but those like found footage require patience and are not for everyone), texas chainsaw 3d, the descent 2, bite, the I spit on your grave remake trilogy, apartment 212, american mary, antrum, open 24 hours, dagon, and lots of others I guess it depends on where you live, also xumo is ok to for horror movies...as you can tell, i have no money to pay for sh#t

Tubi is seriously the streaming equivalent of walking into a 1980’s “mom n pop” video rental shop, stocked with obscure horror flicks. And that’s just Tubi’s horror selection.

Just an fyi. The version of Nightbreed that Tubi has is the Director Cut. Much better than the theatrical cut, imho. The also have Planet Terror to go with Death Proof. And lastly they have the dubbed(as well as subtitled)version of Train to Busan.

I highly recommend Tourist Trap. It's available in its original and "uncut" versions. For a PG-rated horror film it is still very effective at times, but there is some goofy moments. I saw it on HBO back in the early 80's and knew that this was going to be a classic, albeit a minor one. I was happy to see the uncut version but I didn't see much difference between the two. The violence in both is by today's standards very tame, except for a one moment that is terrifying in its implications rather than overt on screen violence. The mannequins are pure nightmare fuel, especially when they start to "sing". It's a great film and reminds us that a horror film does not need to be saturated with gore to be scary.

Great list, thanks for the pointers. I will say (along with surely many others) my problem with "gore" horror isn't a weak stomach, but simply that it bores me. With exceptions for the likes of Final Destination, where the thrill is "in what unique way will this person die", I usually find movies with a lot of gore don't bother with the psychological or suspense elements that I really love about Horror, so much that some hardly bother with story at all (see "Saw", "Cube").

You've GOT to watch LUZ on Tubi! It's a Spanish "horror" movie about a demon trying to possess a female cab driver brought in to a police station to be interviewed by a psychologist--whom the demon currently possesses. Great direction, great soundtrack, and it really doesn't follow the tropes at all.

I didn't think it was as gory as the host said, and I *loved* the vampires, they were simply badass! The only thing I didn't like about the movie was that it did not effectively convey the passage of time in the story. I don't know if that was intentional, but it didn't sit well with me. Otherwise, though, it was one of the best vampire movies I've ever seen!

I been a "Tubi TV" subscriber since 2018 & it is waaaayyy better than Netflix & Amazon Video. Here's my synopsis....first thing first, Yes watching TV, the movies, news, & podcast is totally free....I mean free...! Now keep in mind there are maybe 1 or 2 ads but those are very short. Next, it has many genres of what you want to watch...I'm a horror fanatic so my watch list is mainly all horror movies....my watch list is consistent of these I like to watch.... "All Hollows Eve" "House Of Fear" "Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1975" "Terrifier" "May" "Room For Rent.(Linn Shaye)" "Hatchet 3" "Victor Crowley" "Cannibal Collector" "FrankenFish" "A House Of 1000 Corpse" "Hostel 1, 2, & 3" "Halloween 3 Season Of The Witch" Just to name a few.....go check it out....I guarantee you will love it....🍸👍🍸👍🍸👍🍸👍❤

fun fact: the evil dead 'remake' isn't a remake at all. it's just another installment to the evil dead franchise. the director himself was quoted saying on Twitter about whether or not this was a remake or another sequel because people at the time were asking and in his response he said that "it continues the first one. The coincidences on events between the first film and mine are not coincidences, but more like dark fate created by the evil book."
