I'm on both teams! 😆 Though this year I went all in on a specimen I had been admiring from afar since the 2018 show. I'll be interested to see if you might have filmed it in any of your upcoming videos!

@christopherclark56152 жыл бұрын
It was very nice, and adheres to my typical advice during a show. Buying one best piece you can afford is better in the long run that lots of small pieces for the same price. I just kept finding new things for all my collections!

Tore down some of those giant tents, takes 3 weeks. Found an amazing middle eastern silver cuff bracelet with turquoise and opal inlays, *Inside the wall, which meant someone behind a booth had to make quite an effort to stuff it in there....

And another shout out to Pyramid Peak Gems (spheres) Sullivan & Rose (hyalite opal) Blue Crystal Mines (azurites) Chucks Rocks (fire agates) at the Miner's Co-op as well as Kristalle (Rebecca's tourmaline) over at the Pueblo show!

The fire agate is my favourite :)
@denttech25152 жыл бұрын
I can't believe that that rattlesnake tail casting w/ slaughter mountain fire agate was only $200. The stone, by itself, would retail well over $1000 alone. Slaughter mountain fire agates, with those colors, usually cost thousands. Then you add the silver work. Something isn't adding up
@chadatchison1452 жыл бұрын
Fire agate at the Tuscan gem and mineral show are super affordable, the prices online or in boutique's have incredible mark up value that's kind of ridiculous.
@peridot_craponite_earrings2 жыл бұрын
Nope, it's legit. It gets even crazier when you look at how low the diamond prices are there. TGMS has for sure ruined me from wanting to shop retail for these things ever again. 😂

Do you know anything about padparadscha sapphires? I found one that is heat treated with beryllium and I’m wondering what those typically go for. I understand it’s probably not a genuine type of this stone but in any event just wondering what they cost per carat.

Have you made any videos on Sugilite? I wasn't able to go to the Tuscan gem and mineral show this year so my friend LapidaryDave picked me up a 125 gram parcel of Sugilite rough for only $200 which according to what I've seen online is a heck of a deal.

@@chrispage7146 First of all, it's not funny. And also, it's not a fact. Kashmir was not partitioned. Pakistani forces had illegally occupied it in 1948. The case is still pending in U.N. You may refer U.N.'s document.

Any taaffeite there?

fire agates have tiny platelets of LIMEONITE CUBES. not iron. get it right.
@gems2 жыл бұрын
Yes, on a more technical level, we should have said "platelets of iron-bearing minerals" as the color can be due to inclusions of both limonite (an iron ore) and goethite (an iron oxyhydroxide). We didn't get that deep into it here, since this was more of a show haul video, but hopefully one day we'll be able to do an episode all about fire agates and really dive in.
