In regards to the bezel. The reason it is so much harder to turn is intentional. If you are keeping track of a second or even third times of you don't want any accidental movement of your bezel. It's very similar to the Omega Seamaster Professional bezel. Many people complain about those on how difficult the bezel is to turn, but again was designed to be that way, Let's not forget bezels serve a purpose in there not supposed to be easy to turn.
@TheChapsGuide3 жыл бұрын
I agree - to a degree, the bezel should not be able to be turned easily to avoid accidental movements, but my Tudor GMT bezel is extremely hard to move making it unpleasant to use and also feels somewhat poorly engineered compared to other GMT watches in my collection. Whilst this isn'y an issue for me, as I rarely move the bezel, but it does not feel like I would expect from a watch in this price bracket.

@shepleonard86952 жыл бұрын
@@eagles4757 I don't believe so. I love Omega, let's just get that out of the way. But Tudor is better on some fronts. Holding value and resell value, water resistance, cost. But the biggest is versatility. Tudors just work everywhere and with anything. They are smaller and lighter. Omega is beautifully finished. Both offer in house movements, while Omega offers the Co-Axial movement (not an Omega invention, it was invented by watchmaker George Daniels in 1976) Tudor is killing it in the movement side of the house. Tudor also shines in design and i predict Tudor will surpass Rolex in F&F and movements if allowed and left to grow as they have been so far. Omega has beaten the Seamaster and Speedmaster line to death as well as over releasing "Limited Editions" . It's time to completely revamp or retire both. Omega needs to come up with something, anything new and refreshing that isn't just another Seamaster i.e. the Ultra Deep. Both brands are solid luxury lines that offer something that the other doesn't. As a diver I would choose a Tudor every time over an Omega. As an EDC watch I'd choose an Omega SMP. Both brands hit it out of the park (Tudor Black Bay Pro...OMG I need it) and foul it up (a 25th no 26th no..... limited edition Speedmaster) Both are phenomenal brands and deserve equal love.

I am a Rolex/Tudor lover. I have had a Sub for many years and bought the Tudor GMT about 6 months ago. They both feel identical in quality. You can certainly tell they are in essence made by the same company. I wear the Tudor much more than the Sub as I like the Tudor brand marque over the Rolex marque for a number of reasons. Rolex at times tends to rub people the wrong way--especially in business. Even in social. I like the fact you can wear a Tudor as a high end watch, however, understated. It is the Toyota Landcruiser of watches.

I must admit, the Tudor is the Cinderella in my collection, but when I get around to wearing it, it does perform exceptionally well as a rough & tumble watch. I would not buy another Tudor Black Bay in the 41mm size, as I am not in love with the slab-sided design and I would be looking for a touch more finesse. Sadly Tudor has little that really calls to me in their range at present (other than the BB58 range). I’ll never understand the complaints about micro adjustments on watch bracelets. Micro adjustments on bracelets are akin to Velcro on sneakers. The human body expands and contracts throughout the day. If you are one who constantly needs to adjust for what minor changes in body composition you experience perhaps you need to simply stick to your iPhone as a time piece. Further, the micro adjustment doo-dads are just something else that will eventually require a trip to the repair shop.

Hey @Chaps Guide, What a Fantastic review! I agree with absolutely everything you said, having had mine for a little over a year now. I bought my Tudor BB GMT from my AD in march 2020; on the bracelet. (Never had the date issue either.) I found this video and subscribed to your channel immediately upon watching this - this is such great and honest content and I'm very much looking forward to seeing more of your videos in the future - because I ordered a new 2021 produced Tudor GMT from my AD the other day intended as a birthday present to a very dear friend of mine on May 28th and payed a small deposit for it already. (only approximately 500€). I should have the watch within a couple of weeks I think even though they have to say 4-6 months to not let their customers down just in case something should happen with the shipment or something goes wrong - you know how that works. You sound like you know a great deal about horology and how ADs and Rolex/Tudor under the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation operates. What I'm really curious about is where you got that wonderful replica Tudor leather strap with the deployant clasp for only 25 pounds. It looks absolutely amazing!! Just like you I got the gmt on the bracelet. That's what I always do when I buy brand new watches from an AD just in case I at some point decide to let it go and sell the watch. Having the original bracelet just makes that so much easier in my experience. But the bracelet is absolutely awful for me. It really makes me almost "hate" wearing the watch because I can't get a good and comfortable fit on my wrist. Like you I'm equally "spoiled", owning a 116610LN Submariner and a 5-digit Sub from my birth-year, and a GMT-Master II Pepsi with the glide-lock oyster bracelet. And I also have an Omega Seamaster Diver Pro 300m, bought in 2020 as well, which has an incredible quick adjust system (no doubt inspired by Rolex's glide lock system) where you just push down a button and it let's you do 5x2mm increments, plus it has a divers extension as well. That quick adjust is actually for me better than the glide-lock on Rolex's bracelet, although I do prefer the oyster bracelet from Rolex over the Omega Smp diver 300m in general. But the quick adjust push down button is incredibly useful and handy. And no metal scraping metal; so no scratches. But again, could you maybe send me a private DM or an email (i put my email at the very end of this comment) if you're not comfortable posting here where you got that replica leather strap from, with a functioning deployant clasp that even has the Tudor inscription on it. I think maybe that would make me fall back in love with the watch again so that I can wear it more frequently in my rotation of watches - because right now I just can't bring myself to wear it at all because of the uncomfortable Tudor bracelet. That strap you have with the deployant clasp is exactly what I'm looking for! And I really do not want to pay several hundred pounds for an original Tudor strap that only has a normal clasp. I'm a folding clasp/deployant clasp kind of guy, but I just can't justify spending that much money on an OEM Tudor Strap that doesn't even have a folding/deployant clasp but a normal pin-buckle clasp. The alternatives are so expensive and I don't know for sure if a strap with a deployant would make me love this watch again. So trying that replica at 25 quid would be great. I would be so grateful if you would be able to share with me/us where I could pick up/buy that replica Tudor leather strap you have with the deployant clasp. I think that would make me love this watch again. It is a beauty. Now it's just unfortunately "collecting dust" in my rather large collection of watches. But I love the watch in itself so much, it's just the bracelet that ruins the whole experience for me. Thank you so much for this wonderful and amazing BB GMT review. It was phenomenal, and it made me want to wear mine again. But I just can't on the original bracelet which does not fit my wrist at all, especially during the summer season when It's hot/warm and my wrist swells up due to the heat. I really really hope to hear back from you about where you got this strap because there are so many scammers on eBay and other places like Facebook groups etc. I've been dealing with watches for over 15 years - buying and selling - including vintage/2nd hand/grey market, and you have to be so careful with who you trust. Not that 25 quid is gonna be the end of me or anything if I got scammed, but it's just so frustrating and sad when you pay someone and they end up screwing you over. It appears to me you found and hit the mother load with that replica strap - from a reliable seller. It would help me out so much if I was able to get the same one for my Tudor BB GMT, and one for my friend whom I'm buying a brand new one for, for his birthday. Warm regards, best wishes and with appreciation, Eirik Næss eirik.naess.oslo@gmail.com

I have checked my ebay history and sadly the seller of the watch strap I have purchased is no longer offering such pieces. I very nearly purchased this watch however the thickness of the case really was evident from between the lugs (on strap) and side view the case should have been split rather than having a massive chunk of metal. Bb58 proportions are better but no GMT!
@eiriknss37273 жыл бұрын
I agree that it is too chunky. 14.7 ~almost 15mm is a little bit too much. But then again, it's not a suit watch. It's like The Chap's Guide said: The Tudor GMT is first and foremost a diver (200m water resistance) which has been converted from a BB to a GMT complication. So it is what it is. A rugged sportswatch for casual attire. I would have preferred it to be a bit thinner too: like you said. The BB58's thickness and dimensions are much better for me personally. I think it's around 10-11mm thick. So you can actually get that under a shirtsleeve.

ibb.co/bWRtMrF If you look at this photo it's the GMT and BB58 right next to each other. Extremely chunky thick watch and No magnify cyclops on the Date maybe giving a cyclops was too difficult and expensive for Tudor to offer...
@rossclark45893 жыл бұрын
Good video. I looked at one of these and felt it was too big for my wrist. As unfortunately are most of the ‘nice’ watches - when I put on a Black Bay bronze it looked like a kid wearing his dad’s watch. So I have a Black Bay 58 on order. Only a couple of mm smaller but it did seem to make a difference. But I think I’m going to have to start looking at vintage, solely on size grounds. Any thoughts Ash?
@TheChapsGuide3 жыл бұрын
Have you considered a Rolex Date Just 36mm. I have one with a blue face and it fits my 6.5inch wrist to perfection. It wears beautifully with almost all clothing styles and is remarkably tough and robust. It is the equal of many so-called 'sports watches' and I would buy one again tomorrow. Also there are so many options (colours, bracelets, etc.) you cab get exactly what you want quite easily and without any waitlist.

@TheChapsGuide3 жыл бұрын
I've checked and the listing has ended on ebay. It was just a cheapo, which I picked up for under £30. There are much better out there, but for some reason, this strap just fits me to perfection - but I am certainly looking to move the watch onto a better strap soon.

Very detailed, relax, unbiased & practical opinion. Thou To me Tudor is juz a marketimg gimmick by rolex to tap the market gap. & they succeeded in luring the "gap". Its jus an expensive clone of rolex. I recon one shud jus get an AAAAA grade china clone rather than this overpriced clone. Sori juz my thoughts.

Im planning on getting the BB GMT in either steel or the root beer version in steel and gold. Are you sure the indecies and hands of the steel model are made of white gold? As far as I know they are steel as well...
@TheChapsGuide2 жыл бұрын
I misspoke on this video, the hands of the steel model are made of Rhodium. I imagine the rootbeer version will have gold plated hands and indices. A great choice if you have the wrist to pull off the watch.

Tudor has not corrected the issue. There are reports of people with 2021 versions still having the issue. Plus, time not having the issue does not mean you won't. Many say it happens a year into ownership. This is a very serious issue and problem, and the repair was simply to replace the movement with one that many have had the issue with again!

If Tudor did a half link, it would solve all fitting issues. There's a number of their models that would benefit with this. They are not the only ones to be fair.......Rolex Oyster perpetual also comes to mind. I did have the idea that it wouldnt be the wildest idea ever to have half links made as an aftermarket part, but there seems to be a thought that this would be against design rights.....but I just wish someone would do it!

The height and width is a bit of an issue with modern Tudors. I have a 7.5 inch wrist and I can take them - but they still feel to me like they are pretty much at the upper size limit for me. Something like a Submariner from Tudor’s big brother probably hits the sweet spot for me. (BTW Ash, did your guys at Cribbs C. ever get you your Rolex Pepsi? I reckon they may have been BS-ing you!? We now know from the legal documents in a case against a Rolex AD in Chicago that ADs aren’t allowed by Rolex to sell hot steel models to customers unless they have significant purchase history in non-waitlist items!)
@TheChapsGuide3 жыл бұрын
It is a chunky unit, probably better suited for the increasing size of the human race. I didn’t follow up on a SS GMT (Pepsi). To be honest I’m not really that interested in a Pepsi now. I’m very happy with the Rootbeer and have become a convert to the beauty of gold. It brings a sense of occasion and warm to the watch. Also, the Pepsi seems just a touch too trendy to me, everyone seems to want one and hence it’s appeal to me has greatly diminished. An associate of mine purchased a Batman (BLNR) recently from a high street WoS branch with a 3-month wait. His only purchase history was a Submariner several years ago and a lady DJ for the wife, also many years ago. I think the buying process is utter dependent on the AD & customer relationship. Let’s be honest, most customers buy a watch very rarely and repeat custom will have intervals of years between purchases. ADs want to sell those watches above everything else.
@j.burgess44593 жыл бұрын
@@TheChapsGuide Yes, it is a slightly crazed situation all round with Rolex now. Another AD that I think we both know (I try to avoid naming names - but let‘s say they are just around the corner from Waitrose😉) sold me a BLNR just before last Christmas. Literally while I was in there being fitted up for it there was a young man at their other end of the store asking about the same reference and being told that they were impossible to obtain. Clearly _impossible_ is a flexible concept! I‘m not criticizing them - this guy had flipper practically written on his forehead. They are right to be very picky about whom they sell to. Yet I can remember looking in their shopwindow 25 or 30 years ago and seeing. all of the Rolex references (including Daytonas) right there...

@@Leventgursoy11 it is a very large piece and wears bigger than 41mm due to its slab sides.
