Tudor's T-Fit is cool but might not be all you expect

Hey all you bracelet fit neurotics out there! Like everyone I thought Tudor's T-Fit clasp was the bee's knees for a company that doesn't seem to understand all customers want is a simple half-link. Well the clasp itself is gorgeous on my BB54, no doubt. But the range of travel of the T-Fit is less than the size of a link and guess what, I'm kinda at both ends whether I add a link or take it out. In comparison Rolex's Glide-Lock has a way longer range of travel. So you can settle right in the middle and get it tighter and looser as the day goes. It ain't gonna be like that with your Tudor for SOME wrists. You might just be like me, right at the edge where the T-Fit isn't gonna do much for you, and you'd still need a half-link to get it to work to its full capacity. Speaking of half-links, check out Steel Reef if you want that half-link for you BB58, it'll be a much better idea than wondering if you can fit the 54 clasp on your 58: the metal isn't the same colour and who in their right mind would purchase a whole bracelet or rubber strap just to get that clasp. Anyway, check out my scientific experiment, I hope it shows clearly how a couple of mm's would have made it better. It's OKAY but it's not what you might expect it to be. Hope it works you for your wrist. Mine is about 17cm.

Half links will solve the problem. Uncle Seiko offers high quality links for Tudors and other brands. Give them a month or so and you can likely find it there. I got a half link from them for a BB 36 and it worked our perfectly. I plan to get the BB 54 on the rubber strap.

You may want to move one link from the 6 o clock end to the 12 o clock end, thereby changing the position of the clasp on the inside of your wrist, which is what I did on one of my Tudors.

100% correct on this, I've brought this up in a forum, thank you for making a video and a wider audience. They could have made the t-fit range 1.5 links but didn't... so if you're unlucky you are stuck right at end of the t-fit range. There is a half link for the P39 on Uncle Seiko to fix this issue.

Agree, 5 adjustments at 1.6mm should be enough but doesn’t seem to be. It needs an extra two positions. Still needs a half link. Uncle seiko half link and t-fit might be the answer for many. Thankfully I can get a perfect fit with my Pelagos 39.

Had the exact same issue on my Tudor Black Bay Pro. Tudor needs to offer a half link. Thankfully, Uncle Seiko made a half link for the Pro bracelet, and it works perfectly - now I am able to have it comfortably snug when contracted, and plenty of space to expand 1 or 2 positions as needed. I’m 100% sure he will make one for the 54 or confirm compatibility for a half link he already offers.

Perfect video for me….thank you. I picked up the BB54 last week and have exactly the same problem. I too removed 4 links and am using the largest setting on the T-Fit. The watch feels fine most of the time, but when I’m hot I would really like a little bit of extra bracelet length. I was considering adding another link but you have confirmed my fears that this would result in the watch being too loose. A half link is definitely required…..or only wearing in cool weather!!

This is one of the most informative videos I've seen in a while. Just like many of the other gents in the comments, I had to resort to getting a half-link from Uncle Seiko for my Tudor Heritage Black Bay (version 1 ETA movement). I find this is a problem in general with 3-link Oyster-style bracelets. Jubilee 5-link bracelets are better, because every link is the equivalent of an Oyster-style half link. Therefore, I think the new fixed-bezel Black Bays (31/36/39/41) might be OK with this exact T-fit clasp so long as they ship with the 5-link. When I get to the ADs I'm going to measure the 5-link segment length and compare that to the 3-link segment length.

Micro-adjustment is supposed to allow you to fine tune between removed links when your wrist expands. With half links you could adjust to a mid-point and THEN use the micro-adjustment. Is that too much to ask from a $3.5k watch? Other manufacturers manage it for a lot less $$$. It’s called ‘thinking it through’.

Just wanted to add.. So, for me I have the 58 in blue. I was thinking of ordering the ranger bracelet to get the T-fit myself. The color tone in the metal of the 58 black and blue are slightly different. Same with the ranger. But, honestly you cant tell in day to day wear. The biggest issue I have with the OEM BB58 bracelet, is the non articulating link on the far end of the clasp. It literally sticks out on my wrist and is horrible. So, for $850 USD yes its a bit of a spend, but to get rid of the fake rivets, and get the T-fit and to get rid of that non moving end link.. yeah I think that is a deal! (not to mention someone will give me a few hundred I am sure for a OEM BB58 bracelet in near mint condition) bringing down the swap cost a bit.

It’s not the T-Fit system that is the problem. It’s the fake rivets. They stop there being enough micro adjust because it has to stop where the rivet meets the clasp. All watches need 2.5mm of adjustment. The Rolex has more adjustment on the clasp because it does not have the rivets stoping the bracelet going in further. It’s the same with the non T-Fit clasp Tudor river bracelets.

I just went to the AD to see the 54 (for a second time) It is really nice. However, regarding the T-fit, I just noticed that even here the far end link on the bottom of the clasp also doesn't fully articulate like the one I have on the BB58 :-( I was hoping this would not be the case. Also, ironically because the T-fit clasp is a little longer, means that would be even more of an issue on my smaller wrist. So, sticking with the OEM on the BB58 (for me) will be best.

A few half links are needed if the adjustment is so small. The adjustment is needed if you get wrist expansion not to get the right fit. The Rolex easy link is 50mm and this isn't much more. The easy link also has 3 points of fit which gives another half link.

It would feel very uncomfortable if you dont cuz it’s top heavy, but not with BB58. As if margins were tight at Tudor Towers... If an expensive watch comes on a bracelet, there is no excuse not to adjust in 2mm (max) increments. Even clever half link design can achieve this (Parmigiani, Longines...), without micro adjust. Personally, I don't think Glidelock is all that - it could be finer. What happened to the spring loaded clasp that Tudor did? I’m sure the Pelagos had a T-fit with an automatic spring loaded adjustment. 🤔

Just curious, do you have 4 links removed on the bb58 too?

Don't know why Tudor doesn't just provide the suspension clasp from the 42mm Pelagos on all their dive watches. It's the most practical solution for people who live in humid climates as your wrists will keep changing size as you move in and out doors from the heat to air conditioning. Funny you have a BB54, BB58 and a SD4k. You can't settle on one size or one watch. First world problems!

The Tudor BB GMT and BB Chrono do not fit me on the bracelet, so I wear all Black Bays that come with that nasty rivet bracelet on Rubber. Guessing the new Opaline one has the same issues which is a joke. I would prefer two extra micro adjustment points beyond the length of a full link, and not a half link as they are a bit ugly.

A couple of things: 1. As Uptick mentioned, some people will experience this issue. 2. While having half links would be a helpful option, it's not a perfect solution as I have a watch in my collection where I still struggle to find the ideal fit even with half links. Finding the perfect fit can be as difficult as finding the perfect watch. Thanks for sharing! I'm sure many will find your video educational and beneficial!

Since half links aren't actually half the size of a full link but slightly more, you might find 2 half links will help. This certainly helped me get the correct fit on my 16610, after I used 2 half links from a 116610.

Is the steel of the ranger the same colour as the 58? The 58 black has a very different shade than the blue, so no way the ranger can be both...

I had the exact same issue with the Tudor Ranger I bought last year. Too tight with a link out, too loose with a link in. The problem is they made the adjustment about the same on link. This is such a bad design for me. I had to buy a half link from uncle seiko that fits but does not exactly match the bracelet to make it fit in the middle. This could all be fixed by providing a half link from the beginning from Tudor but as far as I could find out last year they don't offer one in this size. Such a huge disappointment in my opinion.
