Thanks for the video...My gearbox started leaking last year. I could not isolate exactly where the leak was. After watching your video I though why not try what you show here. What have I got o lose? The hardest part of the whole procedure is cleaning the old gasket material off.... Got it back together, mowed my lawn, and so far no leaks! Maybe I can get one more year of mowing ouit of my old JD. so I say thank-you

A suggestion. After you apply the sealant smear it with your finger. You can make a nice even layer around the sealing surface and it's easy to see if you're using too much or not enough. I'm a mechanic and I've actually had multiple experiences where excess sealant got where it shouldn't have been and caused a failure (usually to oil or coolant passages..)

Did you clean the filter and magnets?

*GREAT TIP* You could use a vaccum cleaner while removing the gasket, to minimize gasket falling into the gearbox :-)

The John Deere mechanic told me that the box needed 10W30 oil but, I've seen some channels that changed it for 20W50. I wonder if its a good idea IF you ONLY use your machine in summer.

I have the same transmission. It loses power after a few minutes of driving. I just opened the lid. Where could be the potential cause?

Was this a diesel mower as I'm looking for a new diesel mower that is cheap?
@boerbrabant7 жыл бұрын
Joel Gennard diesel is more expencive if you mow one time a week but lasts fors years bur if you are mowing 40 hours a week diesel is cheaper or you must have a big garden that takes 3 4 hours of mowing diesel is ok
