No. My guess is he had no brakes. I broke a right front off mine this year at the Buck and it tore the brake line out so I lost all the brake fluid. I managed to get it stopped way off the track finally. My wheel didn't come off completely which probably helped by just dragging. He has way more speed and air than I had and the whole wheel was gone. So I don't think he had much control over where he was going.
