Great tutorial! I think what people forget when they see the $400 ottoman in the showroom is the LABOR and overhead and shipping involved in producing furniture. If you charged someone for your labor involved in producing your DIY ottoman plus the materials, and added all of that up, plus the overhead to put it in a showroom to sell it, suddenly the $400 would seem like a good deal. ;)

New a guy that worked in an Ashley home furnishings, the mark up is like 55% on pieces 8n the show room. When they go on clearance they mark it 50 percent off and still make money.

My guess is about $40 - $4.24 (x4) wood pieces - $1 (x7) noodles - $15 (x1) yard of fabric - $1 various screws/staples 1/10th of the price, not bad! edit: hmm i forgot she used two layers of fabric. Another yard brings it to $55, still not bad!
