When you were asking captain Chris about his experience and the incident when they got the radio call - he went to answer you but you didn’t really let him. I was really interested to hear what he had to say and I found myself hoping that he would follow up with, “well, a few years ago we were towing an 80 meter motor yacht and…” type of story. I bet those two have a thousand incredible and crazy stories.

This is fantastic stuff! It would be really informative if you could cut in a shot of a map every 10-15 minutes with a *We Are Here* arrow and direction of travel. Many viewers probably don't realize just how "downtown" the majority of the Miami River and New River actually are. Thank you Alfred!

@@chiccamille There are a number of reasons, including that their props would kick up a lot of silt, and that could interfere with their engine cooling. Another reason is that Captain Courtny does this sort of thing every day, while a yacht, they might only do this once a week at most.

Alfred!! Thank you and the all 3 Cape Ann Tugboat Captains for this experience!!! SO Amazing! I’ve been a boater for 63 years… growing up boat on all kinds and sizes of boats on the Ohio River from Louisville KY, and then on the gulf coast of FL in Sarasota. Now, in Los Angeles CA. I’ve seen all kinds of good situations go bad in a hurry, and bite inexperienced people in the behind. This was the BEST Video I’ve seen about a good crew handling a delicate fit situation… and then a quick turnaround (potential fire) problem like it was no big deal. Such a great experience to be a ride along!!! Many Thanks to All!! Great Job!!! 👍👏👏👏

Excellent boat handling, can’t help but notice no one ever touched the helm, that’s twin screw magic😊
@potatolew4495
@potatolew4495 6 ай бұрын
When engaged in such maneuvers or just returning to port. On a twin screw vessel, a neutral rudder should be maintained. Only the main engines and thrusters should be used to manipulate the vessel in close quarters. I have worked in the commercial marine industry for 27 years as an engineer and captain. I could go on for weeks about the blunders and major catastrophes that I witnessed over the years. Most were caused by the "boater" syarting to panic, sheer incompetence, or being under the influence. The most nerve-racking part of a trip for me is not the weeks at sea. It is the first and last 10 miles leaving and returning to port.

I did a welding job on a sea tug that was converted to a dredge pushing tug, out of Galveston! Dredging the Galveston channel and dumping out in the Gulf of Mexico, it was pretty exciting and we worked day and night! Two guys during the day and two guys working at night! It was kinda sketchy at night because when the dredge would go out to sea to dump, we had to quit welding because the Gulf of Mexico would get kinda rough and we were welding right on the edge of the tug! Welding huge schieves that the cable would go through from the huge winches on to the dredge! I could tell you a lot about the sea tugs and they were towing a 720 foot container and truck trailer barge that goes from Lake Charles to Puerto Rico and Hati! So I’ve seen all of this before years ago, Alfred! Thanks for sharing bro! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙋🏼🙋🏼🙋🏼✌🏻✌🏻💯💯💯💯💯

The company that our company was working for was Crowley Maritime and Towing, based out of San Francisco and they should have a company in Florida because they shut the operation down in Lake Charles in 1989! Our company worked for them for 13 years and we would go out there every day and sometimes 7 days a week! It’s whenever the shipment was expected to arrive! Weekday or weekend!

Thank you for getting the opportunity to go with these MASTERS of assist small TUG Boats.😊😊😊❤😊 The wheel on that Tug your riding is just so BIG and amazing rudder control. A back story. Was on a ST small 45 foot US Army tug. The ship controller was a on are FMS field maintenance barge. He put us on side of FMS and had the 65 foot also called a small Tug by Army lingo. We just about got tipped over. We were on are SIDE as the 65 foot Tug powered up. We had an igloo cooler on back deck. That was for are food supplies as we had no gallery. It got thrown overboard. We got it back after we were able to right are self THANKFULLY. We retrieve the cooler and It had not opened and NO saltwater got inside. A amazing cooler.😊😊

I was just thinking the same thing. That “Jerry Springer style” works great at the Black Point launch drama filled area but isn’t appropriate for this very professional operation at all. No need for hype & drama here….the content & crew is all that’s needed. So much mouth gets in the way.

This was so interesting!! I had no idea how delicate the work is of a tug boat captain. Small suggestion: When you create these cool videos with the working boats and captains, maybe prepare questions ahead of time and also open it up to your audience to see if they have any specific questions about the work of the various captains and boating services. I think the commenters that say you talk too much, or something of the like, possibly because you don’t seem entirely prepared with questions before you weigh anchor and throw lines. I think most of us can appreciate that some questions are going to come up as you progress through the job/trip, and that’s totally fine. I think their annoyance may come from the points when silence falls over the scene and you seem to want to fill it for the sake of disturbing the silence. I don’t mind it, and I can understand that you were not a journalism major in university and have been working in the field of journalism and communications for 30-40 years. You are a KZbinr who decided to exercise the required patience and apply the skills to catch people doing crazy/dumb/random/rude things at a boat launch. I think your content is great, and the videos showing working boats are some of my favorites. A bit of preparation ahead of time in future videos is all I can suggest.

The one big Low back deak vessel with ( Gray hull) you passed as you talked about the problem with big ships moving in channel ( River) I believe in my Humble opinion that is a support vessel for super size private owners millionaire vessels. It carries all the TOYS 😊 that being helicopter or a submarine or just more smaller boats for millionaires 😊 it cruises with the mother ship, its just crazy what these millionaires do when going to sea or change ports with there private vessels.
