Tugboats at Work: Trenton, New Jersey

On the rainy afternoon of December 17, 2023, tugboats EMMA ROSE and MEAGHAN MARIE are seen at work on the Delaware River off of Trenton, New Jersey. The boats have been bringing barges loaded with soil upriver to Morrisville, Pennsylvania to aid in the construction of a massive warehouse along the riverfront. Though it's disappointing that yet another warehouse is being constructed along the river in this region, it's a wonderful surprise to witness tugboats operating at the northern end of the navigable Delaware River at Trenton. I personally did not think I'd ever see such a thing. Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoy.

Thank you so much, Michael! I sincerely appreciate the kind words! Filming in adverse weather is my absolute favorite -- I was thrilled when it started pouring! And I couldn't possibly agree more. It's heartbreaking seeing what beautiful undeveloped land we have left in this area being mercilessly swallowed up by these unsightly behemoths, and the insane super-condo-complexes and new villages, etc. So many of the previously-charming towns along Route 130 in particular are selling their residents out with these short-sighted approvals and it breaks my heart.

Well stated, Trainiac. I live in Burlington County & we see exactly the same thing; prime farmland and woodland sold out for a box building the size of 2 football fields. Said boxes supported by Route 130, a constricted, antiquated roadway built in a time when Peach Farms dominated south of Burlington. The real slap is after many of these boxes go up, they sit empty, a "Tenants Wanted" sign alongside the entrance. I guess a Riverline station will go up in Fieldsboro where once the Doane Shipyard stood, which provided steel for the Roebling/CFI steel mill just a couple miles t the south. Me, I mourn for the heavy industry we lost on that PRR/PC/Conrail line, from Robinsville all the way to Camden. As a kid growing up in Roebling, it was fun taking in the PC local and through freights that ran on that line. All the best for the new year. I’ve seen some of the barges pushed through Bordentown, I was aware they were building something on the PA side, should have guessed it’s another warehouse 😂.
