@@TugTrashOutdoors yeah 10 years ago Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife shut the retention of sturgeon down citing they were becoming endangered, and there wasn't an abundance of juvenile sturgeon. They are slowly opening it back up, but they retention sizes lengths are only targeting the smaller sturgeon. Rules and regulations being created by scientists not anglers.

I've told you before in a previous video that I had bought a large Bluefish at my local fish market because it was on sale and I'd never had it before. When looking up recipes on the Internet, I learned that it's considered a trash fish by many and quite fishy tasting because of large bloodlines and that to get the best quality out of them, you need to bleed them immediately. Well, this fish was whole and not bled out. But I also read that marinating them in buttermilk for 24-48 hours drastically removes the fishy taste.....AND IT REALLY DID! Was one of the best tasting fish I'd ever had. Take regular milk and add lemon juice which is a good substitute for buttermilk.

You all are amazing. FYI, I recently bought fresh red snapper and had it over nighted to me. Was 10.00 lb.. Another fun fact, I used to fish off of 2 aircraft carriers in Guatonmo Bay. JFK-CV67 and Dwight D Eisenhower CVN69 back in the '70's. Cooks would cook anything we caught. Utah loving your channel. 😊

The last batch of dip I made which was with Spanish mackerel. I wasn't paying attention and got chive and onion cream cheese and garden vegetable cream cheese. Just the Wal mart brand. So I mixed them. And let me tell you. It was amazing. Now I use it to do stuffed backstraps

Yeah super endangered!! But you have to admit the reason they are this way is due to the regs!! We can all Agree with that. On the gulf side over here where I live Homosassa, Baylor, Ozello areas we use to never be able to see one much less catch one unless you were way way out. Now we are seeing and catching them in shallow water as shallow as 50’. So it’s working that’s for sure so let’s loosen those regs up a little guys ok?!!! So,,, I take the bloodline out of saltwater fish that are "predatory" gamefish,,, especially blues! So I take the skin off too. BUT,, I can still smoke them by cutting a strip of parchment paper the size of the fillet, then coat it with EVOO, place the fillet on the paper, and smoke as normal! Taking out the bloodline makes them absolutely delish!

The Red snapper are so thick you can't even target the other bottom critters. Even in shallow water where they never were before! And so shallow they don't need to be vented. Same thing on the Gulf side if ya have good numbers. The stocks need to be re evaluated. NOW not later! Thanks for sharing this one! As usual, great content.
