Interesting to watch you guys building from scratch like the Ran crew but you’re going faster with a smaller boat so we get a glimpse where Ran III is going. You’ve done a super job continuing to create riveting content while waiting for your new cat to be delivered. Thank you!

Somewhere on KZbin is a dude from New Zealand who built a full cruising catamaran using this technique. He put together his pictures and home videos into a series of 10 to 20 videos with the full process up to actual cruising in living aboard. The dedication and commitment to see such a large project through completion was inspiring.

How exciting! I grew up on the Restigouche River in northern New Brunswick, Canada. We had a 26 ft traditional wooden/canvas canoe and it’s so exciting to see you building this boat! I have so many memories of long summer days on the river, stopping on an island, swimming and our campfires at dusk to ghost into the shore with last light and then off to spend our day repeating it all. Wonderful weekends! You are building so many amazing memories and skills together. BRAVO! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Steven, I'm in Syracuse, what's going on in Buffalo? I haven't heard?
@stevenclarue7802 Жыл бұрын
@@tomwilliams8675 You may have heard that they found the commercial slip,where all the canal boats were loaded and off loaded, a couple of years ago while doing some random excavating. It turned into a huge revival for the waterfront. Part of that is a museum right next to the slip. In that museum they have been building an original canal boat using tools from that era. Very interesting stuff. Check it out on your way to the falls sometime.

I've been watching Johan & Malin of the Ran Sailing channel build there new 50 ft sailboat. Its surprising you're using a very similar process on this little canoe. Although their wooden hull planking will eventually get encapsulated in a fiberglass sandwhich.
@John-Nada Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I wonder if Johan should be using removable staples or screws instead of permanently setting big stainless wood screws
@dougmarder Жыл бұрын
@@John-Nada Johan mentions this in one of their videos. They could not afford the big staple gun that would be needed to drive through the thicker planks they are using. They know is will be more work, but it was a tradeoff they felt they had to make.

Formers are placed at the various stations which are nothing but locations to make up the mold that the boat is built upon.

What if you use the same technique to build an aerodynamic camping trailer? Cedar strip is an awesome material, for strength and low weight, but also for its bio-compatibility, which is unlike any other building material.

Historically there was a contractual payment schedule. At the whiskey strip placement I believe 1/3 payment was due. The man that commissioned the boat treated the builders with. whiskey and pay?
